You dont want to be spinning that motor to 8000rpm too often.

EJ207? 8,250 is redline I think. I've seen my tacho pointing due south a few times :P

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

Yeah. Idle control motor and speed sensor. I'm 99% sure it's because I don't have a speed sensor that's working screwed into the side of the box.

In other news, my ABS light woes are back. Scanner tool is showing no wheel speed recognition for FL wheel. And the RR and FR is showing that there is no recognition for the ABS sensor. Gunna plug the auto ABS pump back in tonight and see if it clears the codes. If thats the case, the manual ABS pump is rooted. Funny thing is we can't erase the codes?

It hits 4000rpm then goes BAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAM.

/annoying.

Cheers,
Shazza

I always thought limp mode was just a reduced timing map.
Also wouldn't have thought any of them codes would cause limp mode.

Sounds like you're hitting a limiter by your description. Spark isn't breaking down is it?

Apparently the lack of speed sensor will cause all kinds of funky **** to happen, one of them being limp mode.

Swapped the ABS pump over, NO error codes, so the verdict is the manual ABS pump is ******. Will give Al a call tomoz and see if he has another one.

Also, hopefully driving out to Peakhurst to pick a new speed sensor up tomoz too.

Cheers,
Shazza

You would have to drive the car to get the wheel speed codes to return. If the scanner is a decent one you will be able to view the wheel speeds as you drive.

Check each wheel speed sensor for open circuit using a ohm meter.
You should also be able to test sensor output using a A/C volt meter.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Hey Al.

FR, RL and RR are all getting signal while driving. The front left is showing no speed whatsoever. Drive the car with the auto ABS pump, and didn't throw any wheel speed codes like previous. (ie, all wheels were showing same speed on G-Scan scanner)

No more limp mode or check engine light now that speed sensor is in. So good actually being able hit boost.

Shazza

So today, myself and Morgan swapped across an import Legacy Rear Tailgate garnish over to my car (Has additional brake/parker lights over standard ADM model), installed a set of HID's, rewired my stereo, and restored my headlights. Had a bit of a play around with the Go Pro today as well. Full DIY thread on costs, and process we found can be found HERE

Suppose I should update this,

Since Morgan and I refurbed the headlights, I've since added a Walbro GS342 In-Tank fuel pump, and a Turbosmart bleed valve (BLLLAACCCKKK)

I've also got a Turbosmart Boost gauge I've yet to install, so I can accurately turn the boost up. The car is currently running ~12psi, and feels like a totally different car to what it was on 6psi. Considering the V3 STi runs around 15-16psi standard, I'm hoping the 18-20psi I'm going to screw into it will make a world of difference.

Also, since upgrading the headlights with HIDs, the rest of the lights on the car looks ******* ridiculous, so I bought some Parker LEDs (in apparently "Xenon White") which I will get around to chucking in the rig over the next few weekends once my schedule gets a bit quieter.

Next plan is a new front bar, a manual gear surround and some new interior lights as the current ones are as dark as a cave.

Since boosting the car, I have noticed an issue however. Everytime I hit full boost in 1st gear, my dashmat slides off. I plan on buying some double sided tape to fix the problem.

Cheers,
Shazza
