Hi guys,

I just bought one of these for my car, considering the B4 also has a MC unit in there, and uses the same c-net protocol, you may be interested in this..

It's a 'fake' stacker adapter that let's you connect 3.5mm or iPod/iPhone..

Axxess: AIP-CL-ID

I got one off eBay for $80 delivered from the US.

Cool!

Linky??

I googled it and it came up with one that plugs to the bottom of the iPod, for $143.

I wonder if the genIVs use the same protocol as genIIIs? I know there are several c-net adapters out there.

You can add a switch (short two c-net pins) to put the HU into stacker mode and another three wires connect to the 3.5mm iPod jack. Costs about $2.50!

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

ooooh, was wondering if something like this was possible... one problem, mines got a stacker installed, a Clarion. I was considering one of those FM jobs, my sister has one and it works pretty well. Could use a tape deck thingy as well I guess, but I hate them lol.

I got mine running and doing well at the moment,

has the standard crapple 30 pin connector and the 3.5mm headphone jack too.. Win-Win.

Hmm, does this charge your iPod? I was going to get like an iPod Classic 160gb. Which might make it worth simply leaving the stacker in the car but unplugged while this is in use, the stereo has a CD player in it anyway.

I did a quick Google and apparently these things are frying head units... might leave it for a bit and see how yours goes! :P Sounds like a neat solution though.

Thinking I might take the leap... It seems to be getting hard to get now. Few dodgy US sites, Amazon has got it real cheap (apparently 7 left) but as usual they aren't shipping to AU and using PriceUSA or whatever hardly seems worth it, unless you are buying something rather pricey, or a bulk order.

From my quick googling it seems this was intended for Gen4 and possibly 5 McIntosh units. But I guess it might work with the B4 McIntosh... It seems there was a batch of dodgy units in late 2009 that were causing problems, but everyone since has been happy with it.

Yeah I checked them all out, the fee plus the shipping, worked out within a few dollars of just going with eBay - for one item. If you were to say... buy the remaining 7 :P then ship it. It would totally be worth mail forwarding it. Considering the only Australian option is $143...

Haven't actually ordered it yet... cause I am pretty certain the B4's plug is actually round.

The B4's plug is definitely NOT round.. it's the exaxct same square C-Net plug as I have.. it's the standard that Clarion uses on their whole range..

I had a look at the Stacker I have, it is the Square one. Very Interesting! Someone over at ozLiberty said they pulled the stereo out once and it had no CeNet, but mine must have something there.

I thought it might be round cause that is the old Clarion link... maybe I got lucky with mine being an MY03.

I am looking for a solution to this too.

Did you end up buying a cable from the states?

I found a topic a few weeks ago about how a guy pulled the deck apart and hard wired a Aux plug in there. He needed to run a silent CD though.

IIRC two of the C-Net pins, when connected together, will switch the HU to 'stacker mode'. Three others are used to connect to the iPod. This is for the Clarion unit fitted to the RX but I'm fairly sure it will work with the B4's McIntosh.

Im running a FM transmitter (a good quaility one) and it sux big hairy balls!
