I was told that the short shifters have a tendency to screw up the gearbox, have u heard anything about this??

It doesn't directly screw up the gearbox it just makes it easier for the driver to make a mess of things. The ideal shift is to rev match the flywheel speed with the speed of the new gear. Since the flywheel is rotating faster than the higher gear a certain amount of speed needs to be removed from the flywheel before the clutch is re-engaged. If the speed isn't reduced there will be a certain degree of stress thrown through the gearbox as revs equalise. This is one of the reasons for using a lighter flywheel as it will shave off speed quicker allowing the driver to shift quicker (which is where the short shifter comes in handy). There is no problem with using the short shifter though, just don't try and shift as quick as an F1 car and nothing will break.

Congrats on the purchase. Have to agree with Alexxx, if you're going WRX in the long run, wheels and suspension should be the extent of ze mods.

I've really been liking the output of Koya Wheels, they're in Australia, and doing good prices on some very JDM looking wheels. My favourite is their Drift Tek

If thy tint is dark and thy wheels are black thou car be declared b11tchin'

So you can run it on 6psi with an rx fuel pump? :P

Cheers for the feedback on the rims guys, but i must say i went for the 19's and i am very happy with that decision. I reckon it improves the look of the car without altering the ride as there is still heaps of room between the rubber and the guards.

Check out the pics......the only other thing i want to do fix up is the suspension and lower it, any recommendations??

They really seem to protrude from the rubber.

What size tyres are you running?
You're going to have to be careful parking :P

looks good mate. rubber looks quite stretched for the rims, i guess to avoid rubbing on the guards or struts?

any workshop should be able to lower your car for you. where are you located?

Well I have no idea about the tyres, the rims are 19 x 8.5, and the tyres say 225/35 ZR 19 88 W XL if that's any help

skinny tyres + small aspect ratio + sydney roads. be very careful they can damage very easily!

suspension can go anywhere. H&R springs i recommend as they won't be as rough as kings and give a nice ride.

Thought i'd revive an old thread instead of making a new one.

I'm planning on getting 18x8 rims with an offset of 45 i think it is on my rs impreza penanut eye. I was wondering if anyone knew if it will scrub either on the guard or strut before i go buying them. tyres will be 225/40

Car is lowered.
