Hey guys, just wondering if anyone in Melbourne knows a good place to get my clutch replaced?
I would attempt it myself but I am staying at my sisters place and have no tools or place to do it and I need my car.

So throw up any suggestions if you have some.

Also, what kind of clutch should I be looking at, I was just thinking an Exedy OEM replacement? Any cheaper options, as a new engine/gearbox will be going in in the next couple of months, unless the clutch will suit a v3 gearbox?

Cheers Jesse

Edit: Also, any ideas on a good place to get a halfcut in Melbourne?

http://www.highwaycl...u/about_highway

they were cheapest i found when i went hunting back a few years ago.. just going OEM replacement? or something special?

Valeo clutches are pretty good, never get mentioned but they are OEM for most European cars and heaps of other makes.

short of this.. check repco.. i got my kit from them for only slightly more (it was a saturday when i needed it)
it was under $500 for my kit..

Cheers mate, just going OEM, will only be in the car for a few months until I get my hands on a front cut.

Only thing is, what clutch do I ask for?
Is it the same clutch as a Liberty or wrx?

I learnt the hard way on getting a HD clutch.. don't do it.. stick to a good exedy organic clutch.. don't go the pink HD.. I blew my box with it

Haha yeah, I have no need for a HD clutch and honestly I don't like the way they feel. Also I imagine they are more expensive too?

I found the clutch I need, same one as a WRX up to '05.

Found a Exedy FJK-7123 for $430 at Northern Brake and Clutch in Kensington.

They are by far the cheapest I have come across. Repco wanted $750!!?!

Should I do anything else while I have the engine out etc when doing the clutch?

Rear main seal, oil sep plate if it's leaking and flywheel bearing, if that kits price jesse? Should include thrust bearing and pressure plate

Yeah $430 is for the whole kit. Where would I get a rear main for my engine? I assume I can't get one from Subaru?
With the flywheel bearing, is that the same as the spigot bearing and would that be the same a WRX one?

MAKE SURE YOU GET A PULL TYPE CLUTCH , THE RX IS A PUSH TYPE.

GET CLUTCH to suit my99 WRX or EARLIER and you will be fine, 4 bolt 5 MT, Pull type clutch system.

Rear main part number
806786040.

FJK-7123 is good, 'tis what I am running in mine.

Cheers Dylan, yeah made sure I got the pull type clutch. Got confirmation over on RSLC what clutch I needed. Thanks for the rear main part #. Should I just go to Subaru or any auto parts store?

Brendan- More than half the places I rang wanted over $600 for the FJK-7123 which is just a standard replacement clutch.

Go to Subaru mate, they might have to order it but should be able to have it by tomorrow. I think it was $20 or less for the seal off the top of my head !

Try buying one with a Dual Mass Fly-Wheel LOL.. the "Dual" in the name stands for what happens to the price of clutch compared to a "single".
