Speakers

I have pulled out an old set of quality 6x9s out if my old car but then realized there's not a great deal of places to put them in the outback... Actually, there's none.
Should I get a set if speaker boxes and put them in the boot just behind the seat?
Also, I have stock speakers all round, if I want to put the 6x9s in, do i have to replace my rear door speakers? Or can I run another amplifier, so that all speakers are working?
That way I'll have:
Pioneer head unit---->2 channel amp---->12" sub
---->4 channel amp---->6x9s
Stock front components and stock rear speakers.
I have a better set of front components on the way too.
Or what would be a better way to set it up?
All help would be great..

also to you want your best sound coming from the front, so you are better off amplifying the front speakers.
my 2cents.
I should just convert to single, right?As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

if you are running a sub there is no really point in running 6x9's.

I was actually thinking of taking my sub out of the car, as it's just taking up space and is a crappy one anyway. Should I just replace the sub with the 6x9s? And then hook the other 4 channel amp to the other speakers?
Thanks for the input mate

Front and Rear Speakers are unammplified - Running directly off the deck
Sub is amplified through monoblock, which is connected to the head deck via RCAs
As Shane said earlier, i will be replacing the speakers with FOCAL if/when i get a chance.
Works a treat.

Shazza

i would replace all the stock speakers with some FOCAL speakers (not cheap but one of the best you can buy)and run a good amp
shane
I've had my eye on some focal, kicker and mtx components, haven't really looked at the rear speakers and have a really good set of 6x9s.
4channel amp from h/u to components and 6x9s at the rear? And take the stock rear ones and sub out?
ah then in that case, just run the fronts and 6x9's on the 4 channel, leave the rear doors running off the head unit. at least then if you decided to kick back in the boot space you have decent sound coming at you as well.
That's what I was thinking. So all 6 speakers will still work?

Get a set of 6" or 6.5" splits for the front and put nothing in the rear.
Get a powerful 4 ch amp (like 4 x 100) if your keeping the sub/getting a better one - 2 ch for the front, bridged for the sub.
Or if your ditching the sub, get a 2 x 100 amp for the fronts.
Sound deaden your doors.

That's what I was thinking. So all 6 speakers will still work?
That will just produce a very unbalanced soundstage. There is no benefit to having 6 speakers in a car, 4 is ample.
Best bet is to forget about the 6x9's, keep the sub and amp as is. Replace the front speakers with the components you are getting, purchase a set of coaxials to replace the rear doors with similar power handling characteristics to the components for the front and run all 4 channels of your other amp. Then adjust your F/R balance (or time delay if available) and HPF's to suit.

Thanks mate. I'll be heading in this direction.
I'll try get a decent set of components up front and 2 or 3 ways for the back. Get rid of the amps I have and get a decent four channel and mono amps.
Thanks again for everyone's thoughts!...
Appreciate it guys.

2 way for rears is all I would personally look at. The rears are just there for "fill" so don't need the extra treble of a 3 way. If you do go for 3 ways just be careful that they will fit in the door as the 3 ways tend to be a bit bulkier
Sweet mate thanks heaps. Would a cheap set of 2 ways, say pioneer or jvc brand be suitable for the rears?
