There's a Desire Z that looks alright. With a slide out keyboard.

With Virgin, but I don't care because I'll be buying it outright.

They're all around the 300 dollar mark including the HTC Trophy (windows phone).

But the Desire HD is around 400 to 450. Maybe AMS can shed some light.

I have my SLR for photos anyway I guess.

Still swaying towards the Legend. Slightly lower specs than the Desire, pretty much the same. But looks a lot sexier.

I know a few people with the standard 'Desire' (inc Nik.) and he's the only person I know who likes the phone sorry to say.

The desire hd is where it's at, just be prepared to charge it every night or every 1.5 days depending if you're a heavy user or not.

If I was to be on the market for a new phone now, i'd definitely look at the Samsung Galaxy S2. Dual core phone is where it's at.

Let's remember I stepped up from one of the oldschool HTC's to get into my Desire. The reasons I like it probably won't apply to many other people though.

- fantastic reception out here in the sticks incl. internet
- great battery life (well I reckon 2 days is pretty good)
- it's not an apple
- it's very simple to use
