I work from home. I make my own hours. Get $25/hr, pretty happy with this. Pay is great as long as the work is on, boss only commits to 3 days a week, 5 when we have the work.

That plus side jobs I do for myself on my ABN. So yeah, pretty happy with my current job. Last one was also from home, but the pay wasn't as good. I only go out to meetings, usually when the B4 gets a decent run during the week, depending on how far away the clients are.

Well I didn't think I would be able to coming out of university, but it turns out a lot of Web guys work from home these days, the work comes to me digitally, I have an IP phone on my desk, or some places use Skype. My boss was totally open to me working from home when we had the interview, he found that when the previous guy (he moved to the UK) worked from home, he got more done, and had more flexibility and less distractions. The office is behind the storefront.

It was my uber geeky mate from uni that got me onto this working from home thing.

Yeah with bandwidth available at home, ip phones, email, webcams etc there's no reason to have an office and the boss would save thousands of dollars by not having a shop front and office rental, power etc....smart way to work I think.

My job has me half at client site half at my office...

Yeah, I just claim all my home stuff on tax. I can claim, internet, anything I buy for my desk etc.

The digital age is already here, I can see many businesses running this way in the future. I make online stores for clients that operate out of their garage. Becoming more and more common.

Yeah I used to work with web developers in my last job and deal with web app guy's all day now. Some are so freaking thick I have to say but it's nice when someone actually understands how a web server works and why when i say "your code is shit" it actually means it, not that something is wrong with the server.

A mate of mine tried getting into App's, we don't do them at our place.

Haha, I try to make sure its not my fault, but I had to b!tch about some limitations on my new bosses web server. They don't give me SSH access, or direct control - which I am not used to now. But their support tickets are nice and fast. All his stuff is on ilisys, aside from being super basic reseller hosting - nice and stable.

I only deal with IIS/windows, we have a whole other team who deal with linux stuff and that's usually only for reverse proxy stuff.

Our guy's don't get control of the box. They write the app, submit the change to us - we install it...that way they can't feck anything up on the box trying to make their dodgy code work. Thankfully we have test, dev and uat environments so we have at least 3 steps of testing before any actual users see their stupid program.
