Yeah not that I should really be putting a price on my own safety but at the moment I couldn’t part with $600+ for a helmet. I think mine was $150 or something?? I got it on sale and it’s done me ok so far. It meets Australian standards and stuff so I’m confident I’ll be ok in it.
ps: i had a look at those aldi ones the other night when i was doing my shopping and they seem to have all the relevant australian standards and adr stickers etc
Aldi helmets have as/nz approved stickers and meet all requirements.
Really can't go wrong.
I would imagine that they would HAVE to comply to these standards to actually be sold at a retail outlet here.

yep that's correct, it must meet Australian standards if it's to be sold as safety equipment.

If you put the helmet on and leave the straps undone, you should not be able pull it off by grabbing it from the back (top of your neck) and pulling it over your head. If you can, it's too loose.
They will get looser the more thay are used so get one the tight side.
Keep them in a bag when not being used as small marks on them can send some scrutineers into a fit.
Spend as much as you can afford, then some.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Apart from the Oz standard sticker there should be a Snell sticker on the better helmets IIRC.

Just tried it J man and mine passes that test

Also here is the requirements for WSID, which these helmets pass, for motorbikes and cars
http://www.wsid.com....Information.pdf
WSID would take the matter pretty seriously. I doubt anywhere that i use the helmet for else is gonna have regulations that require more then an international drag strip.
If these helmets are deemed safe to do a 10.01 quarter mile pass on a motorbike, that makes them more then good enough for what me, and probably 98% of the people reading this will use a helmet for.

Are they fibreglass?
Not sure.
Plastic ones usually have a seam running front to back.
