My old man pulled out his HT GTS monaro to get valued as part of my parents divorce.

I'll get pics tomorrow if I get time :)

Sorry to hear of your parents situation.

More pics of Monaro please!!!!

What is the model code, 81837, 80837 etc?
Trans?

EDIT: OK factory 6cyl.

BTW it has a HG grill. :)

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Well considering mint Torana's can go for up to $100k... Should be around that area. (I would think).

For a $100 large it would need to be a tidy matching numbers 4sp 350 Chev GTS.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

The bonnet is from a HK I think. I've always thought it'd be cool to buy a 2 door torana in the same/ similar orange and badge it up like a xu-1 but some of them are pretty pricey! :(

Marvy Martian, ever driven a early 2000's E class V8?

I have driven a 2005 S class and it was not very nice at all to drive... steering was vague and far too light, handled like a boat, not that I suspected it would be fantastic. Had the airmatic suspension.

The only reason I ask, I drove a similar vintage SLK320 and it was not too bad, handled ok and felt good in the steering department.

Was wondering if the E class was a happy medium.

S class is a limo, mate. And the model depends on how nice they are to drive. If it was a base S class, you're driving a much nicer Exec Commodore. "built for comfort, not for speed"

E class is better. I've driven a few and the V8s in that range and they're definitely a lot pointier, less wallowy to drive. However, you're still driving a big saloon that's a mix of pampered comfort and speed. The supercharged E55 and later 6.3L E55 are both very, very rapid, though. They're decent handlers so long as you don't mind a bit of tail-out action.

The C-class is probably more your thing. While you don't get the V8s in the non-AMG models you do get a soft ride with more dynamic steering. Being 700+kg lighter than an S class will help that, though. The C63 is in my opinion the best new 4dr fast car you can buy today, bar none. And I'm a BMW fanboi. If I ever get $50k to blow on a car* I'll buy an E39 M5, but the C63 is better than that and better than M3s, RS4s, etc. I dunno if it is better than an E60 M5. It's very, very close.

*I never will, though. I see no point in spending any more than $20k on a car, and that'll be the "family car" for my fiance. Me? Gimme $8k and I can buy whatever I want... hell, $3k is enough :)

QUATTRO! Epic car.

Long live the original Stig!

So many of them are not matching numbers hey, see them going through shannons and CS regularly... that is an issue across all old collectables though, particularly old rotaries.

makes the matching numbers vehicles just that little bit more special.

Good call Marv, I don't spend up big on cars.... I don't have the money to waste on such things.

My boss has a C63 AMG, couple of months old... makes me jealous.

Muscle cars are nothing compared to some other scenes. You'll knock the value of your old Pommy car (Austin Healey/Jag/etc) down by a fair bit if you polish the body of your carburettors when they were originally painted. Or use non-original hoses/clamps.

I'll take the 599 GTO. You paupers can fight over the scraps.

When I drive 10km a day and haul car parts/building supplies on weekends there's no point having a nice, new car.

I thought about buying a newer car (granted it wasnt something like a merc or something) But a nice Gen 4 GT.

But the way i figure it, is i gotta spend more to get the car, and then ill prob want to mod it which is even more $$

So I stick with the gen 2... because Gen 2 Wagon > Everything Else*

Agreed.
