sorry, didnt realize the RTA had no credibility here. Get your facts straight as its misleading to others who rely on them.

I checked the rules a year or so ago when i got defected, even the cop didn't know the correct rules, but he was a cocksmoker and couldn't even fill out the defect notice correctly :P

I just took the TT converted outback through a blueslip as it due for rego and I still have not gotten the engine number changed. The guy was pretty good, he said all he will cover in the blueslip is the engine and gearbox, the rest of the car will be covered with a normal pink slip. So he gave me a blueslip that just had the engine inspections completed only, and the new engine number recorded, and a pink slip for the rego inspection. The rta were fine with this and recorded the new engine number and printed off a new rego certificate for me. Nothing was said by either the mechanic or rta about it being a different engine to the original 2.5L...
Piece of piss really, I was worried they were gonna force me to get it engineered. I think the trick with stuff like this is to make the engine bay look as factory as possible, ie. no pods, bov's, boost controllers, front mounts, and having a factory exhaust helps too. This is one of the advantages of subaru engine conversions, it is very easy to make it look like the new engine was meant to be there from factory, due to the high interchangeability of parts accross models.

Work out your rolling diameter using the tyre placard on your car, then work it out on the rims and tyres you wish to buy, then check the difference if your within + or - 15mm of your standard rolling diameter.

You should be able to find a calculator online to work the RD out.

Auto electricians do blue slips I hear these days...

Also, there is something about having your speedo re-calibrated, which I never did, but to be honest is best to be done.. they are getting pretty narky with speeding tickets, and using "I changed my rims" prob won't fly too well..
