The problem is you have a twin-turbo Subaru.

Seriously, sounds kinda like an AFM.

Oh shlt. Doesn't help that its a JDM one either. I hope its nothing serious.

All it took was a dodgy knock sensor to mess with my mates WRX, it wouldn't boost correctly. So it may well be a sensor, I hope thats what it is anyway.

Black smoke just means its running rich I believe... if a sensor is on the way out this could cause that. But running rich shouldn't cause the surging... the motor is just burning too much fuel. But yeah, it actually does sound like it could be the transmission now that you mention it. Hope the mechanics easily identify it.

Take a pick.. it's either the AFM or the Exhaust sensor.. not too pricey to change

I doubt its the Oxy sensor causing that. A farked afm could probably cause it, its weird that the gearbox tcu registered a fault but the ecu didn't...

It was just the Air Flow Sensor.
I have to take the Air Pod off so it doesn't happen again.

When i got it back today he told me i should put the factory air box back on it.
should i do that? next month its going back into the same place for a chip and boost control put on.
Is there anything else i should do to it? and will the air pod be ok when this is done?
