Just did some reading about the delvax mx oil. It's a diesel oil? Obviously its just an oil in the end but seems wrong to use it in a non diesel :P none the less I think I'll run it from now on :) 20l drum FTW!

Thanks mate

I won't need it for another 5000kms (or 5 weeks :P) but I will definitely get one

Lol sounds like me!

I used Nulon 10w40 Full-Synthetic last service and the car loves it, after asking similar questions on here.

Also the gauge isn't screwed on, I am trialing some 3M double sided tape my dad had, it sticks nicely and juust rests on the wiper stick thingy, as low as I could put it, can see it totally when driving straight. Like most people I don't like making holes if its not necessary. Some fancy piping work in the engine bay, the line I was recommended to use already has a T in it, seemingly going to the cruise control... there are now 2 T's lol.

I've done a lot of reading of late on engine oils in Subarus, and the general consensus is that Subaru EJ's really dislike synthetic oils.

I've just done an oil change, and I've put in Delvac MX. So far, so good :)

Really dumb it down here Alex, magnatec = synthetic?

I use it on advice from Stig... Seems alot of rslc boys use it.

Always happy to try something cheaper ;)

Magnatec was the one the book recommended... not saying that is gospel but would be disappointed if it's no good...
I've heard fully synthetic glazes over the bores?

Just been doing some reading on the Delvac MX myself and it looks like a goer, however very hard to come by at local auto shops. Looks like it will be one of those things that if I see in the shop when looking for something else, I'll stock up on :P

Magnatec = Semi Synth.

Subarus seem to like the Magnatec also. But the Delvac seems to be OK so far, and its cheap'n'cheerful.

All Repcos stock it allegedly, even if it's not on the shelf. They should have some out back.

The Nulon is 'full-synthetic', but most people refer to it as a 'semi-synthetic' due to the way its made, some sciency stuff. Mechanical Stig knows his stuff too, when I asked him on that forum he recommended the Magnatec as an all-rounder, but some people dislike it. Marty used Nulon in his (in one of the vids). From everything I have read as a newbie to Subaru, Full Synthetic is fine in Subaru's as long as its not less than 5w30. 0w is suicide lol.

Hurrdy hurr hurr

Repco Erina don't stock it. The store is smaller than our little flat and the guy knew straight away that he didn't stock it!

Apparently West Gosford does though...

I use Nulon fully synth 10w-40 (high tech, fast flowing haha) in the B4.

So I probably recommended it to you. I haven't had any problems with it. (not that I can tell)

But will probably try the delvac next service which is half the price.

Yeah its a diesel oil,but a top quality mineral oil ;) as said i waz skeptical too but ive now had it in for 3 changes now with no issue....and notably less (none at all) oil blow by....Scott will confirm this aswell

As you said morgan ,subys dont like full synthetic, bores glaze up over time causing issues...michael spoke of other issues but this was the main reason
@morgan-west gosford definently have it, but its behind the counter (it never seems to be on the shelf?) as michael gets it from them, my local mobil servo in toukley sell it too (checked today ;)) for $33.95!! They had 5 bottles of it :D
