Didnt you say he want to take it softroading a bit?? That would pretty well rule out the Tuned Liberty I'd imagine.

Sig worthy.

Jords,

Great car the Lib.

But just bear in mind that the MY06 has a 2.0L instead of the 2.5 in the MY07+. Also it misses out on Brembros and that SI-Drive system.

Hes decided to pass on the softroading, hes 90% sure. Hes gunna wait till i take the (whatever he buys), then buy a land cruiser when he retires (same time).

The real issue is the lack of six speed. The si drive system is a gimmick imo and the brembos arent going to be noticed 90% of the time. The 2.0 in the sti is sweeter than the 2.5 (unloke the gt which i prefer to have the 2.5) i reckon

I don't know much about the Foz, those series 1 gen4 Lib GT's have problems with turbos sometimes. Have heard from a few people that they have had a turbo spit its guts out. Liberty.asn.au would have information on this.

Thats for gts, not the sti libs iirc as the early ones got different twin scroll turbos

So ive said to him, The general consensus of you guys is that they are both good cars, and he has to decide if he wants to go Softroading at all in the next 2.5 years, and base his purchase on that.

Am i right?

Yeah Marv, you're right - the SI-Drive is a gimmick.

But I'd of thought the 2.5L would've been the pick. All things being equal that is. Bit more displacement would yield more torque?

25% more swept area will give you more torque but its hamstrung by a td04l.

The 2.0 was more of a special edition as it had a bigger turbo. I cant remember which one it was.. Maybe vf36? It certainly is the only 4cyl turbo subie id drive without modding the engine

Ahhhh ok, so the MY06 has the smaller turbo. Gotcha ;)

So what you want is a MY06 with the 6spd. Happy times....:D

Td04l is only one step up from a tf035. VF36 is pretty much a twin scroll vf34

But yeah, 2.0 w/6mt = win for me :)
