Not sure about the head gasket, but the valve cover gaskets arn't hard to change. I did mine as they were doing the same thing, when I did my 200,000km service.

I have a post from a forum saved on my laptop at home that I followed. Will post it up when I get home tonight for you.

But if your getting the head gasket fixed it might be easier for them to do it.

Most people just pull the motor out. They're real easy to get at then.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

You'd be nuts to even try the HG replacement in car. It's a motor out job.
I pulled out my turbo motor on Saturday afternoon on my own in 3 hours and that was with a quick lunch break and just taking my time. I've done it in just over an hour once before.
An N/A motor removal is even easier.
Make sure you get new headbolts, although I've done it with the originals and it still went OK. It's just that they are meant to stretch once and thats it.
As Tony Montana would say:
In this country, you gotta make the money first.
Then when you get the money, you get the power.
Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

Head warpage can happen if the motor overheats as a result of a blown head gasket. If it's not overheated, then chances are pretty slim for the heads to warp.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

Heads wont warp unless you are bloody unlucky
dude i almost spat my coffee when i read the description of sprayed oil haha.. split CV would have caused that no doubt.

Morgs, the gen1 drove 180,000kms with a split boot, no grease and a plastic bag munched up in it too (tried to perform a ghetto fix on the split cv back in the day haha)
it never made any noise..

to the OP, check your codes and check your air/ and fuel filters (actually you have a gen3.. ignore the fuel filter for now (back seat out job :(

check plugs.. blown HG on those engines 99% of the time is just a slow external coolant leak.

investigate other options ;)

it only overheated once and that was because some how a bunch of coolant leaked out

idk how or where it leaked from but its only happened that one time, left about a squair foot size puddle

but it looks like it will be easer to just pull the motor out and try to get it done in a weekend

Sorry will get that link for you tonight. I keep forgetting about it when I get home.

Mine leaks small amounts of oil and coolant from the back of the engine above the steering rack( on the right side looking at the engine bay), maybe have a look there to see if thats where it is coming from.

I don't know why it's doing it yet as I have not had a chance to take it in yet.
