As mentioned before, above is the cheapest.

Whatever you decide, just don't go stupid low. You need the springs to still work or you risk making a dog of a car that is a pain to drive.

ill 2nd that, i did a one coil spring chop on my impreza(3 sets of springs ago) and it was a pig of a car to drive, looked sick but.

just a daily driver that needs a more aggressive look

Pull the body lift out of it, and fit some liberty struts and lowered springs.

this makes the most sense to me but someone menchened having to change steering components?...didnt think about that

Think everyone missed the part where he's from the US.

lol i was gona say ive never heard of an engineers certificate

I've had King springs on my GEN3 liberty which cost roughly $350 back in the day and they were good for a few months until I wanted to go lower. I picked up some brand new BC Racing Coilovers for $1000 delivered and will never go back.

Yeah you can spend $300/400 on springs and struts blah blah or just be a dodgey cunny funt and cut them lol but its the fact once you do it, you can't change it without having to spend even more money.
At the end of the day coilovers are worth it cause you can CHANGE WHAT EVER YOU WANT WHEN EVER YOU WANT FOR FREE!!! UP DOWN IN OUT which ever way you wanan go while still increasing handling by 100000.

Just bite the bullet and get coilovers, I use to think they were expensive for what they are but just do it. :)

the cheapest coilovers ive found are 1500

but im still not sold on the idea of spending that much money on a daily driver that isnt a race car

how long would lowering springs last?

im thinking about taking the body lift out and putting some legacy struts and lowering springs in

i can get a set of eibach springs for about $300

has anyone ever used eibach???

Send Josh at Import Image an email and ask how much BC BR's are to suit a 2002 Legacy, they'll be alot cheaper than $1500.
You can 'option' the Extreme low kit (shorter strut bodies) when you order them if you want it really low.
Can also get stiffer springs too.

To de-lift a Gen3 OBK you need the following (thanks Al):

You need Liberty steering column and uni, rear upper lateral arms, lift blocks removed and shorter bolts front and rear, liberty tailshaft, Liberty struts preferably coilovers as it is hard to get the height correct with a H6 and liberty gearbox Xmember.

NOTE: that advice was for an H6 3.0 OBK, which is why he mentions the H6.

Do that and you'll get something like Miles' "Hoverwagon"

Did you get 1999-2002 Legacys in the US? If so, replace the term "Liberty" with "Legacy".

Just buy some second hand jdm billies? Most you'll pay is $600, though $4-500 is more realistic

what are jdm billies?

How hard is it to rebuild a BC coilover that just needs the damper rod replacing on the front!
