To do it cheap, buy a JDM Subaru Legacy GTB halfcut.

Transplant all bits to your car.

Or

If you wanna spend some dosh, got for some STi goodness.

yeah the USDM Legacy (gen 2 and 3) GT's are 2.5 N/A's aren't they??

if you did decide to go down the path of turbo front clip, you should be able to source one through a JDM breaker locally (not sure where your actual location is).

If you just rebuild then do it with quality parts. Also if you're doing that you could consider upgrading your cams + getting your heads ported / polished to get a bit more poke from it

A 2.5 turbo Baja clip is exactly what you need to be buying.
Or a Forester XT clip.
As Tony Montana would say:
In this country, you gotta make the money first.
Then when you get the money, you get the power.
Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

If you're in the US don't even consider a GTB halfcut. They are not compatible with LHD vehicles without a heap of work.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

right hand drive twin turbo into left hand drive = don't do it

get a rex, foz or baja clip if you go down that road

You'll need a full wiring loom (that'll need to be spliced with your current loom) and ECU. A bonnet with a scoop if you want to run the TMIC, or a front mount if you want to go that way, and an exhaust.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

if you get a halfcut/front clip you'll get the engine, gearbox, wiring, ecu etc and make sure you also ask for the rear diff. as luke said, you'll need a GT bonnet or front mount

i work at a bodyshop and theres only one parts place around that we get our parts from called LKQ.

ive seen the clips they sell and some arent pretty! they usually dont come with a motor eather

so i think if i do this i'll buy it all separate.

there is A LOT to collect if you buy it all separate. it can become extremely costly and time consuming trying locate and buy all the bits and pieces. don't get a nose cut which is generally just panels etc, get a half cut which includes all engine and driveline pieces.

to get you started

Yeah doing it part by part will be an extremely time consuming process, and you'll more than likely sit down to assemble it all and find you've missed all sorts of little bits and pieces. You'll be able to find something on ebay - that WRX cut is a bargain compared to what we pay here!

Also bear in mind, that it's not a plug and play loom, and that this is a big job, not just a simple motor change out. Do alot of research before you even start spending $$
