Gave it a service today.

Used upper engine cleaner and I don't think I've ever seen that much smoke before. Was almost going to use another can to make sure it was totally clean. It is running rich ATM and it was running even richer when the cam sensor went. Was a bit disturbing to see but, meh....

Also finally fitted my Fumuto drain valve. Next service 'come at me bro!'

Ended up putting delvac in it after hearing so many good things about it. Put a genuine filter on to and managed to do it without getting oil all over the header wrap which was a bonus.

Going to change out both O2 sensors, but that's a job for another day.

Also waiting for a free weekend soon to change the Gearbox and diff oil with Cam, Lachy and Mark.

Well that makes next time easier.

Good choice with the delvac mate. You won't look back in a 2.5.

Yeah it desperately needs some TLC and I was sick of neglecting it. Will hopefully have the sensors changed before the end of the week too.

When are we doing the next mini techs and mechs day??

Will see how the delvac goes too before I commit to it. Will go it once more at least

Winning. How much did the genuine filter set you back if you don't mind me asking?

Righto. That would probably be a trade price. I thought you might have got it from a dealership.

If I remember correctly a genuine filter is $16? Does depend on the dealership though.
That was from my local, Tom Kerr Subaru (Who are known rip-off artists.)

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

So yesterday I met up with Cam, Lachy and Mark at Lachys house for a bit of a Mechs and Techs day.

Day consisted of,

changing Lachys FR cv, putting XT front brakes on and replacing all brake fluid, putting in his new head unit and fitting WRX style boost lines

changing Marks oil to delvac

getting rid of Geofs new WRX's Super sequential BOV and replacing with a stock BOV, airbox resonator delete and replacing oil with delvac

Then replaced my gearbox and diff fluid with Castrol Syntrax and put a new MAF sensor in. Turns out my old one had a split in the rubber gasket to so here's to hopping that will help a few issues.

Was a very hot day working out in the sun but a big thumbs up to Lachy for putting on a few drinks for everyone. Also I was to busy (working or talking crap) and had filthy hands for most of the day so if any of the boys got some snaps throw them up on here if you like.

On another note I'm contemplating the idea of getting a retune done at MSR as I have a few issues that I think may be tune related. (I've replaced so many parts to rectify the lumpy idle and over fueling to no avail, only thing left is check all grounds.) I'm either going to get a new wastegate actuator for the td04 as it chatters like crazy and then get a tune or if $$$ permit go a vf43 and then a retune.

So today I finally got around to installing the coolant temp adapter for the gauge I installed forever and a day ago. Wasn't sold on doing it this way but got over it siting loose in the engine bay and having a gauge that read nothing.

Also for anyone else out there wanting to cut rubber hose I ended up using a clamp as a guide.

Got a few things lines up for the car. Looking at installing an oil catch can, pulling off this tint and going 25% on rear window and 35% on the front 2 and tossing up the idea of buying some eBay STI tail lights. Scored a GD whiteline RSB as well.

Ordered a brand new O2 sensor as I'm still running rich on idle. Can't wait to get everything done and sorted.

Good call with using a hose clamp as a guide. That's good cheap way to do it.
