Background of the car is: 01, 125,000kms, service receipt and log book complete history, new clutch as of 10,000kms ago
Just need to know what i should be looking for in terms of faults and turbo maintanence. Has been serviced every 5000kms from 2nd owner
How about Fuel consumption does it just depend on the way you drive. Just trying to get as much information before making a desicion.
Thanks

* has it had a tune? if not it will ping, if it has an ECUTEK tune , stay away as its costly to tune and mod after the fact.
* check for dodgy mods,
* keep standard Bov system as it is a part of the boost control system
* turbos are good for 200k+ running stock boost.
my B4 is awsome but i lost a turbo.

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

Most people would only close it around cops/RBT's etc anyways

I dont like varex's on turbo cars... but i dont see how there would be an issue with tuning with one? Open it up and tune it?
Most people would only close it around cops/RBT's etc anyways
because closing a valve off to quiet the car down affects exhaust back pressure, i wouldn't be surprised if it suffers from boost spikes

True yes, thats why i dont like them...but if left open how would it affect a tune? Only way i could see it affecting the tune is if it was tuned closed....which is a bit odd and makes no sense at allbecause closing a valve off to quiet the car down affects exhaust back pressure, i wouldn't be surprised if it suffers from boost spikes
Correct me if im wrong but i dont see how it could

Most people that own them just avoid boosting with the valve closed.
I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.
It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

most i know only close it whilst waiting in line at an RBT or backing down the driveway late at night.....its common sense to never boost it closed,If it is driven around closed than theres an issue yeah

It only affects the tune if you open it, tune it, and then drive around with it closed.
Most people that own them just avoid boosting with the valve closed.
That's what the owner told me as well. He has the varex so he can turn it off when he is taking clients around(works in real estate)
Getting a proffesional inpection done tomorrow to be on the safe side. Car is in great conidtion for its age but we will see how tomorrow goes.

Mine gets about 12L/100kms, a bit more usage when I am pushing it along.

I'd be over it like a rash if I wasn't in my current predicament with my vehicles.

My stock Revision E B4 makes a great daily and is as reliable as any other car I have owned.... just quicker haven't had any trouble with pinging, but I don't drive it hard in hot weather. The VOD doesn't bother me either. Fuel consumption depends on how heavy my right foot is.

Has service records, log books and reciepts for everything and from both owners. Owner is a car guy and has spent a lot of money making this a great example.
Will be bringing it out to the cruise in April
