"Since there’s no room for an intercooler up front, turbocharging is out. You can cross supercharging off the list, too, as Subaru is concerned that it would impact the BRZ’s fuel economy and require a larger gas tank."

Wut? Its a Subaru, bonnet scoop that shit, turbo somewhere under the motor instead of beside it. I agree, they aren't trying hard enough.

I read in a couple places (magazines and online) that the 2nd gen BRZ will have electric turbos or something. I think so they aren't dependant on the exhaust.
These setups will be used for the new WRX and STI.

But seriously if electric turbo can be done (somehow) it would be pretty awesome. My understanding is that they will be electric assisted turbo chargers, maybe they spin up quicker to reduce lag or something. Would still need exhaust gases though.

Electric turbo is gayness.

I don't care who says what.

They're merely there for emissions purposes, and not for performance.

I'm going to buy one, and sit it on top of my carby, and see what happens.

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. Seriously cubts,  :fork: right off.

Well it can't exactly make it slower can it Shaz :P

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

...

is rumored to employ a turbo with some form of electric device. This has been a while coming as Subaru took out a patent on an electrically-operated turbo back in 2007.

...While the internals are still secret, our source did mention that the new turbo would use heat energy from exhaust gases to generate the necessary electricity.

even if i had the money, wouldn't be too hasty to buy one yet. Rather sit and wait for it to be developed a bit more, or at least see if they bother to do so

With Petrol prices at record highs across the world, they would be crazy to put a turbo charger on. In Japan, the price of petrol is around the 2 dollar mark, while in the UK and the US there is record highs in prices. A turbo charger is a good way to kill sales and drive the price of the car up.

And that's why subaru have the XV and toyota have a prius. I'd put money on the fact they would sell more BRZ/GT-86 if they were turbo/supercharged. All it needs is more power to be an even better car

look at all the current performance cars, they are nearly ALL turbocharged. this is because high capacity >6cyl motors can't meet current emissions regs. turbocharged cars are becoming more and more efficient.

This "electric turbo" can also be mistaken for the air pump that turbo Subarus currently have for emissions.

Those flares need to be thrown in the bin.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

i think you'll find that that is a kit in development Luke, not the actual kit itself

I can read :P I don't see why they would only make half a flare as a prototype though.
