Hi all,

Over the weekend dad and I made this cubby mount for my newly acquired ECU Datascan and thought I'd share in case anyone else wanted to do something similar.

Plus it's one of the better things I've come up with. *Proud face*

:D

Pulled the stock storage compartment off and was left with an empty hole

Bought some MDF and went away to measure it all up. We cut out the MDF to the required sizes.

Used some wood scraps from around the garage to hold them all together.

The original ECU Datascan suction mount can be separated and reused in my custom mount. Drilled a hole in the front for the bracket to go through. Also drilled a groove into the base so the OBDII cable can reach the Datascan unit.

Back to the car for a test fit.

Clearly the MDF is not an attractive look so covered it in some suede material and behind that, iron-on wadding so so that has some feel to it (nice and pushy to touch).

All put together and looking sexy!
Haven't copmletely pushed the pod down in the photo but it sits nice and flush when it is fully clicked in. I also had to position the unit towards the bottom of the space and a little to the left as to compensate for the OBDII cable, plus the on button and mount release tab.

Very happy with the outcome!

Cheers :)

Nice job there Morgs.

But why buy MDF? Just pull some of the wall off the house and save $$$ :P

Not sure if serious? Didn't do this project to save money..!
And walls aren't made of wood.
Plaster = ~$20
Wall paint = ~$50

And meanwhile, MDF = $8

Very nicely integrated Morgs. I'd love to have a closer look at that on Saturday if you're coming...

Im gonna try and do something different...

Get the same dash pod and get a double din pocket from a AE92 corolla n have mine flip down using this... Will mount Velcro to it for simple removal
