If its soaked into the plastic, it probably isn't worth his effort.

Just found a lone scotch ale in the booze cupboard. Such a win considering I thought I was out of beer.

Sig worthy.

My father in law has a 2004 and the towbar is tearing away from the body. Its rated at 3200kg and has only 6 bolts holding it to the chassis via the captive nuts in the body. It has no chassis like most 4wds, its a unibody like a normal car.
Jeep refuse to provide any assistance as they believe that the use of 'level rides' when towing his 1600kg caravan has caused the failure.
When he rang Jeep head office to query the refusal on the grounds that this is not explained in any written form they still refused. When he suggested that this decision may result in him generating negative feedback to the caravanning community the alleged responce from the person on the phone was "Go ahead, you will get nothing out of us".

Don't buy a Jeep.

Take this to the ACCC. They are coming down HARD on car manufacturers right now.. I mean HARD.

My uncle recently bought a Jeep. No idea why though. They wanted something between the Statesman they had and the old Maverick (Patrol). Why they cheaped out and went a Jeep I dunno. We're going up the beach in a couple weeks. We'll see how it goes next to our 01 Prado (first time we'll take this one offroad actually).

Also I found out recently that dad bumped into the new owner of our previous 4x4 (99 Monterey (Jackaroo)) at SuperCheap - apparently they blew the gearbox. Dodged a bullet there :)

I will suggest it Josh.
They have left to return to central Qld to recover the caravan, as they had to leave it to return to Melb to have the Jeep fixed.

When they were about to buy it (new) I suggested otherwise, but when you are dealing with an engineer who worked for a major car manufacturer its all about specifications.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

You should always check when it's cooked, though you can usually see by eye when it's ready.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

And that doesn't damage the plastics?

Well, yes it does. It dries it out. But if you're going to paint it, that's kind of what you want.
When I had my car(s) resprayed, I had all the plastic bumpers done to match the body (03 Forester X). Being a detailer at the time, and the car was my work car, I used to silicone the crap out of the plastics every week. Painter got them spot on, and they havent had any paint peel to this day. The Forester was painted at the beginning of 2007. So any painter that says it can't be done, is not worth your money.

Sig worthy.
