Bought a Meguires or however you speeel it... Clay Bar kit today, $35 ....... fark that thing picks up the crap imbedded in the paint! AMAZING stuff.... I take pretty good care of my car in general. Wash it every week, but the ammount of crud that came off with the clay bar was just amazing. The paint feels like glass now , not a single rough spot on it. Took about 45 minutes to do the whole car (gotta love getting your little brother to help you detail your car) .

After just a quick wash and clay bar the car looked shiner then ever. Then with just a quick coat of wax the shine was amazing!

Recommend this stuff to EVERYONE !

However half way through i realised i probally should of waited till NEXT WEEKEND to do this as im going to drive about 500k's this week........... o well haha

I used the Meguiars clay kit as well on my car and the paint came up really well, could not believe how much dirt came out of the paint, the claybars were brown when i was finished. Gave it a good coat of Gold class polish afterwards and it kept a really deep gloss shine for ages.

I know its a old thread, but I just had to know if anyone can figure out what brand I use?

Not saying its the best stuff, but after buying a few things from them that turned out good I'm a little in love. Though I think I paid around $35-$40 for the tech wax.... lol

Also wonder if anyone else has found the new Scratch X 2.0 isn't as easy to rub in?? And I can't get rid of some water marks on the top of the spoiler? anyone recommend a product?

I spend hours on the car, when I first got it I spent about 5 hours clay bar, scratch X then wax the whole car. And polish the rims and some tyre shine.

i've used it all... Autoglym... meguiars, Sontax and finally mothers...

one thing i have learned throughout the time spent polishing and fiddling on the car... always use a quality paint prep...

i like to use "paint doctor" as a paint cleaner... which also works like a very light cut... i mean very light... this removes surfaces scratches and removes all other waxes and polishes before applying a wax and or a polish.

I recently bough my very first clay bar... which i must say i wouldnt have bought if it wasnt on special... but think i will be buying again when the clay has had enough... it gets the paint so smooth and clean i would be happy to eat from it... despite the mess it would make... haha

i am using the mothers all in one polish, but think i will be investing in the 3 step procedure... as i want a deep shine... and i want it to last a bit longer...

its a bit like anything these days... there are so many good products out there its pretty hard to go wrong... it all comes down to following the same procedure each time you wash your car, and a well prepared surface before you put down any polish. also the longer you leave your polish the better the polymer reaction when you remove it... there is also some merit in using light and numerous strokes to remove the polish, as the more it is buffed the higher the shine...

I would highly recommend avoiding any wash that has a wash and wax... as the wax leaves all your plastic whiteish.. and you have more more work to remove the wax before you apply your wax...

i did half of my car tody ( i ran out of day light) i will post a pic tomorrow of what my results were when i have done the lot...

sorry for the long post... but its something i think i am the full bottle on :)

Yeah I still have not found a good product for the tyres, as I had that stuff like black paint but it was way to messy so went onto the cheap ass spray from them.

Have just found out I have lost the clay bar!!! Will have to buy some more....

Also is anyone else like me and have different chamois for different parts of the car? I have one for the upper parts of the car, one for the lower bit and inside door parts and one for my rims...... Only because I found my rims if I didnt dry them they would look like shit with water marks all over them.

The wife wishes I would look after her that well, hahaha

With that I just use Aus Export! It's been able to clean everything I have needed. including the cement when I left the oil pan out in the rain and it over flowed.

CT14 truck wash in warm water.

If you have deep, thick baked-on grease issues a couple of cans of throttle body cleaner will do wonders - way better than degreaser IMO :)
