Depends on the budget mate... low budget equals cat back exhaust and 4 pot front brakes
if you want to spend the bucks stainless headers, hi flow cat 2 1/2 straight through via a decent muffler and full Brembo brake conversion from a STI.
Or turbo!!! technicaly it is an exhaust upgrade.

ps i would like your rims for my B4. let me know if you are selling

HI,

I wouldn't bother with 4-pots, you've got that stopping power already. Just good fluid, maybe some slotted rotors and decent pads will net you a nicer brake feel.

Exhaust wise, if you're just looking for a nice sound, I wouldn't bother going past cat back or even just a diff back section.

As for turbo'ing an H6? Yeah... by the time you finish all the support for that you could've bought two Blitzens...

I'm a bit down the road from you near Maggot Creek. Welcome along to SC. That makes a few south wester's now, maybe we should think about a little cruise sometime.

Cheers,
Nik

Welcome to Suby Club. Nik's advise is good and probably all you need to do unless you're thinking of dropping a couple of grand on a full Brembo set up. You could definitely "freshen" up your system with a new set of pads, some upgraded rotors, a BMS and a set of braided brake lines if you wanted

That makes a few south wester's now, maybe we should think about a little cruise sometime.

yeah that's a good idea! we need an area rep, moderator or admin in that area to start organising.. wait hang on??

I'm all for a cruise... I even know a photographer that would be keen to shoot everyone's cars... Perhaps take some pics too...

That raptor supercharger looks good! Lol but I would go one of their exhausts. They look the business... Correct me I I am wrong... Although when I was laying under the car the other day the system looked pretty good... Few too many cat converters though... I'd be asking what the h6 guys are using exhaust wise... And getting 2 of those and upgrading the diff back for now... And some new pads for starters... His brake feel is pretty average actually... My ageing b4 rotors are much nicer!! Could be the bloody expensive bendix that got put on!! But I know there's better again...

Would going the full length as well as headers be a major upgrade, or not worthwhile? What would the approximate price difference be for something decent?

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

I was actually thinking braided lines the other day.

This maybe a silly question but would I have to get a retune if I get the aftermarket exhaust? How big can you go before or would it mess with the running of it

On the Gen4, if you do an exhaust, get a tune. You'll have no issues if you dont, but you'll get a gain with a tune.

I've been told by a few on SubyClub that getting a tune after getting a full exhaust system installed is the way to go. I will definitely be doing it to gain all the benefits.

How much would braided brake lines set you back?

Xforce centre and y pipe for $220 then buy the mufflers of your choice for around $600 TCP auto, Ultrex, xforce or Sti mufflers are what most people use unless you want to spend big money on the Japanese stuff.
Be careful tho, I'm not sure if any of those mufflers will fit in the cut outs of the Blitzen bumper.
If you want some headers and high flow cats add another $1200 at least.

Brake wise 4 pots from a wrx are actually a down grade.
To upgrade the brakes as the others have stated, new pads and rotors plus some braided line will give a nice improvement. Brembos would be awesome but the are costly.

I would definitely recommend a tune. Some big improvements are available ;)

Very informative post hoff, even for me. Thanks man. Gives me a general idea on how much it'd cost to get a full exhaust system.

Pads and braided lines. No benefit on a street car to upgrading rotors.

WA represent! Lol.

I'd be starting off with air going in air going out and some new pads for starters... No Subaru I've ever had has had bad brakes. But your cars brakes are soft to say the least... I reckon some good pads, some new fluid and skim of the discs will recitify that.,. And coming from what you had... Even in stock form, working correctly... Will be a big improvement!

As for noise. Start diff back and go from there... It will make for a nice noise when your flooring it away from my place!! Haha
