Hi,

I have been reading through the forum for a while now so thought i should post some pics of my project.

It is a 1994 model Legacy BG5 TT that i bought approx 8 months ago for $1300

It is totally stock with leather interior about 170,000KMS .

On the drive home i got a CEL ( Code 66 ) which was a bit of a bummer, but i had read about this before so wasnt too worried.

I plan on doing the usual mods and possibly some type of aftermarket injection but will start with the basics first.

Heres some pics of when i first got the car:

Looks like a nice starting base.

Very similar to what my previous GT looked like when I first bought it.

yeah its not to bad but will definatly need some work.

The first thing i wanted to change was the wheels as the 15"er's looked a bit dicey.

I ended up buying these wheels as they were cheap and located nearby.

I think they look way better but the ride quality is now a bit harsher.Attached File  IMG_7193.JPG   1.3MB   3 downloads

Welcome to SubyClub, misfit. A very nice base to work from and those wheels definitely make the cut!

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

Can you hook a brother up? Please contact me now. I have cash ready.

Thanks for the warm welcome :D

I dont think it was me at wallsend Walker,

And im located at epping Cam.

Im definatley happy with the car and never thought i would buy one but " Impulse " got the better of me and i ended up with it .

Its not as fast as my mates wrx , but with a few mods im sure it will keep up .

The CEL was starting to get to me so i thought i would suss it out.

Ever since i bought the car, the car would drive fine but then if you took he revs up to 3500 rpm, or floored the accelerator, the car would stop boosting and lose all power and the CEL would come on ( Code 66 ). The revs would then drop to 3000 rpm and the power would pick back up and as soon as you hit 3500 rpm it would do he same thing and just loose all power.

So it would pretty much be just " Bunny Hopping " until you eased off the accellerator and drove under 3000 rpm and not apply to much load to the engine.

After doing a bit off reading , i disconnected and blocked off the vacumm line off the Secondary BOV, and this stopped the CEL coming on, but now it had a problem where it wouldnt go into twin turbo mode.

I then started testing the solenoids ( by connecting a vacumm hose to the solenoid and blowing into it while in diagnostic mode ) and found the solenoid that connects to the Secondary BOV wasnt opening and closing, but funnily enough it was still making a clicking sound.

I ended up buying a set of solenoids from a B4 and just replaced the faulty solenoid and also replaced all the vacumm lines and cleaned all the other solenoids. This fixed the problem and the car was finally driving properly for the first time since i had bought it but it was still idling a bit funny.

I was happy enough with it for now so left it like this while i decided what i was going to fix next.

The next part i decided to change was the Plastic intake pipe that connects to the MAF.

The one i had on the car was cracked pretty badly and it was making the car idle and fuel economy really bad.

I looked around for a cheap OEM replacement pipe but the prices seemed a bit high for a second hand part, and then this popped up on ebay for the same price as a second hand OEM pipe so i bought it and fitted it up.

A week or so later my front brakes started grinding so i started looking for some replacements.

I was considering just fitting standard pads and rotors as i had read many mixed reviews of the wrx 4 spot upgrade ( some people said it made a difference and other said it didnt ) but in the end i decided on going with the 4 spots and rotors from a 04' wrx as they looked better with the new wheels, and the price wasnt that much more expensive. I also used RDA Extreme brake pads and RDA rotors.

Now that the car was finally driving and stopping properly, i wanted to get it looking a bit better.

The front bar that came with the car was pretty tatty so i started searching for a GTB bumper. Unfortunatly i could not find anything so i started looking at importing a bumper from japan.

Just when i was about to purchase a bumper through Nengun, This popped up on Gumtree for $150..........
:yahoo: AND I HAD TO HAVE IT
