Sydney CBD is definitely dirtier

I disagree, I generally find Melbourne CBD to be dirtier and less taken care of than Sydney, my cousin first pointed it out last time we were in Melbourne and I took note, the place is not clean at all.
Especially when it comes to old heritage listed buildings, Melbourne does nothing with them in the way of keeping them clean were as in Sydney the older sandstone etc buildings are fairly regularly cleaned, like QVB and Central etc so that they don't look like they are falling into disrepair.

Fair call is fair.

But I agree on the trams (those are awesome) and interesting stuff etc, Sydney CBD is very much just a business district.. not a lot for a tourist in there at all. Melbourne has some cool shit, I remember walking into the shot tower that is inside that building and was like WTF, SWEET haha.

It's brilliant. I could buy a $200 bomb and he'd pass it for me haha.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

So much risk if the RMS audit him, which means that they turn up, check out what cars you have recently passed and then rock up to those peoples houses and do their own inspections, if it doesn't pass their standards than the person who passed the car can lose their inspection licence.

Yeah there is always that worry, which is why most people won't just pass a car unless its ok.

This is why I oppose testing for registration (speaking as a licensed vehicle tester) as the testing seems to become slack as it is done so often.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Yep, Dad got audited once or twice, passed each time luckily, but even so he has become stricter for it.
As much as you want to help people out, if they are driving something that is deemed by the RMS to be unsafe for the road, it isn't worth your inspection license or worse the life of someone else on the road when the car catastrophically fails (worst case scenario :P) because a person doesn't want to address or can't afford to address an issue with the vehicle, and sorry but just because someone can't afford to fix an issue that could potentially be serious they don't have the right to continue to drive and cause potential injury to other road users, No excuses, fix it or don't drive it.

True... I would agree with this... but I have split cv boots, which I don't think is critical is it? The CVs are fine, guy who inspected the car said they are, but the boots are split, so it is leaking grease... I've been wanting to get it fixed for about a week now, but the guy who does them can't fit me in to get it done... not in time for the rego renewal which is on Monday...

Blah... I guess I'll just have the car off the road for a while till I get all this sorted... :(

How can they be split and fine and the same time? Just get them fixed already! You procrastinate more than Adam!

I very much don't, you often find cars come through with bits barely hanging on, especially where the owners are the kind who do no maintenance at all to their vehicles and the only time they will know that the car is not safe to drive is during those inspections, and if they don't want to pony up and fix it at least you can declare the car as "Fail - Not to be driven" taking something dangerous off the road.

I understand what you are saying that some people might not take it seriously, but they run a risk of being caught and punished for it. I think more people are now starting to do the job properly.
