Nice RX mate, it looks to be coming along nicely :)

Thanks mate yeah it is coming along...got a front strut brace to put on when I get some time. Looking at doing a few more things to it nothing special just a few handling things and potentially some more cosmetics things as well

Let me know if you feel a difference with the strut brace. I wouldn't expect too much difference as the struts are quite close to the firewall.

Will do man, I'm really not expecting much at all picked it up super cheap and will put it on. I have heard people say they notice the difference and others say they noticed nothing. Ill see how it goes...

So over the weekend the front strut brace was installed. I don't notice it heaps especially when just cruising. But when I'm giving it some around sharp corners I find that the car corners better. I definitely notice the difference when punching it around sharper corners.

So I bought an Ultrex rear strut brace of Harry the other day, so thought I would add it to here. It was originally pink but I changed it to Black for no other reason but I felt like it. No one will see it but I thought meh.

jk7fdk.jpg2s0gt2p.jpg 2i7msnt.jpg

Now obviously there is no real noticeable handling gains here. However, with both front and rear braces in cornering at faster speeds reveals a very small, but a noticeable difference in my opinion. People have said that braces are the last thing to do handling wise. My car does not have a rear sway bar, So what other handling things can I do? Springs and struts will be changed at some point, but other than this what do you guys suggest?

When I took out my rear seats to fit the brace up, I noticed that my rear strut hats were all rusty. Now for me, even though no one will see it,  I know that there would always be something under there that wasn't clean or neat unless I did something about it. So I took them out gave them a sand and hit them with a coat of black paint.

Strut brace looks 10x better in black. I should do the same to my front one.

Yeah I am going to paint my front one all black as well, I personally don't like it standing out. Thanks for the brace dude. How was the event you were heading to. Were them other boys in ya car from SC as well?

I would probably look at coilovers next or sway bars.

Yeah man....oh really I met Harry and the guys at Tuggerah in the morning on their way down. Yeah the caps came up nicely...just little touches one day someone will rip the seats out and see the attention given.

Little Update:

I went over to Luke's place on Saturday with Morgs. Met a few of the guys from here which was good. I had planned to do a few things to the car but unfortunately had to leave early. Anyway, I managed to customise my front grill with the help of Morgs. Here are some photos. I'm not too sure whether I like it 100% with some of the honeycomb still there. The fact is, behind the honeycomb at the far ends of the grill is a clip that holds the base of the grill in place. So it kinda has to be there unless I can come up with an idea. Have a look and let me know your thoughts. Basically cut out the honey comb, sanded it back, gave it a spray with some custom shield (black), fixed the Super cheap grill mesh to it and it was done.

Cheers

Sub'd :)

Great read mate; a good story told very well.

Lots of pictures and information.

Yep those strut top hats look mint! Well done.

RE front strut brace, I noticed the sharper handling on turn in very noticeably but that was when I had oem KYB struts/springs. After my Billies went in I barely noticed it. It still changes the handling in a positive way though.

Imo I'd go coilovers and then RSB.

I see what you mean about the leftover honeycomb in the grill but it's so small it's negligible imo.

Pics at a slight distance please :)

Keep up the good work/writeup.
