Mark, start a thread.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

It was a Forester GT specific kit. It's discontinued now.

Hyperflow just went bust so they don't make a kit for GT's anymore either  :(

I have a feeling you could make a SG kit work if you got a piece of exhaust pipe to make up the difference in y-pipe length.

Had a few important financial things come up the last few weeks, Bugger. So no plates for a while.

Yesterday I was unlucky enough to be pulled over by the infamous Highway Patrol Officer Slee. The modified car nazi.

I got pinned for: Suspension to comply standards for vehicle and exhaust missing components. He also thought he could get me for missing 02 sensors as well. (Wideband bung) :P
My exhaust has two cats and a rear muffler. Just like the standard GT system. So, It's not missing components.
My car counts as a MC vehicle (LOL). So that means 200mm's of ground clearance. However, Once the vehicle is registered in NSW it must have 100mm ground clearance. My car has 95mm's of ground clearance at the flex joint before the second cat.

So with some hanger modifications tomorrow night at the flex joint, I'll keep my car the same height as it is and Officer Slee can pull me over again, Actually measure my car this time and go do his job properly.

What really grinded my gears was he was trying to school me, I wasn't speeding, Didn't even RBT me and in the 10 minutes he spent doing laps of my car mumbling to himself a pulsar with cut springs and subs turned up to 11 drove past and a pajero with rooted wheel bearings rolled past.

While my car which is 110% safe, Mechanically fantastic with no corners cut gets done for bullshit.

:fork: the system, I've lost any respect I had left for Highway Patrol officers. His parting words were thank you for your time and money. Disgusting.

Blueslip on Tuesday, Clear it, Up yours.

Old post revival... This is more for reference for everyone...

As part of my role work, I need to customs classify vehicles at work. When it comes to cars they can placed in 2 categories Offroad vehicle or Passenger Motor Vehicle (PMV)

This is deciphered through the ADR design rules and compliance.

In order for cars to be classed as offroad they must meet the following:

4.3.3.    OFF-ROAD PASSENGER VEHICLE (MC)

A passenger vehicle having up to 9 seating positions, including that of the driver and being designed with special features for off-road operation. A vehicle with special features for off-road operation is a vehicle that:

(a)     Unless otherwise ‘Approved‘ has 4 wheel drive; and

(b )     has at least 4 of the following 5 characteristics calculated when the vehicle is at its ‘Unladen Mass‘ on a level surface, with the front wheels parallel to the vehicle’s longitudinal centreline, and the tyres inflated to the ‘Manufacturer‘s’ recommended pressure:

(i)      ‘Approach Angle‘ of not less than 28 degrees;

(ii)     ‘Breakover Angle‘ of not less than 14 degrees;

(iii)    ‘Departure Angle‘ of not less than 20 degrees;

(iv)    ‘Running Clearance‘ of not less than 200 mm;

(v)     ‘Front Axle Clearance‘, ‘Rear Axle Clearance‘ or ‘Suspension Clearance‘ of not less than 175 mm each.

Alternatively, a vehicle that meets the definition of CATEGORY G - OFF-ROAD VEHICLES under Consolidated Resolution on the Construction of Vehicles (R.E.3) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and is in category M1

2.8. Category G - off-road vehicles
2.8.1. Definition.
Off-road vehicles are considered to be the vehicles of categories M and N satisfying the requirements of this paragraph, checked under the conditions
indicated in paragraphs 2.8.2. and 2.8.3.

2.8.1.1 Vehicles in category N1 with a maximum mass not exceeding 2 tonnes and vehicles in category M1are considered to be off-road vehicles if they have:

(a) at least one front axle and at least one rear axle designed to be driven simultaneously including vehicles where the drive to one axle can be
disengaged;

(b ) at least one differential locking mechanism or at least one mechanism having a similar effect and

© if they can climb a 30 per cent gradient calculated for a solo vehicle.

(d) In addition, they must satisfy a least five of the following six requirements:
(i) the approach angle must be at least 25°;
(ii) the departure angle must be at least 20°;
(iii) the ramp angle must be at least 20°;
(iv) the ground clearance under the front axle must be at least 180 mm;
(v) the ground clearance under the rear axle must be at least 180 mm;
(vi) the ground clearance between the axles must be at least 200 mm

I did a quick check on SF & SG Foresters...

Approach Angle - 22.9(SF)  23.2 (SG)  FAILS BOTH ADR & Euro Standards

Breakover Angle - 17.8(SF) 18.7 (SG) PASS ADR, FAIL EURO

Departure Angle - 21.2 (SF) 21.2 (SG) PASS ADR, FAIL EURO

Running clearance -191 (SF) 220 (SG) SF FAILS BOTH SG PASSES BOTH

Axle clearance I couldnt find any info. However considering the SF has failed with 2 of the 5 characteristics it can not be classed as an OFF ROAD VEHICLE (MC)

Hi mate, What glue did you use for the corner lights?

Blacked out headlights and corner lamps. Such a pain in the ass.

That's how mine was after blacked side corner.I think the wind did all the work of removing it.
