Tax time is upon us and I feel the urge to spend some dollars on more power.

I am currently running the TD04 turbo on the EJ257 STI engine, with STI Top-mount and a custom tune.

I would really love to take it down to Michael South for a tune and maybe a new 3" exhaust while I am there, something decent so Im not wasting money…

What are peoples thoughts on turbos and anything else I may need? I have been told I will need bigger injectors?

What muffler should I run with the 3" TBE? Should I go for some EL headers?

Sam :)

way to many options speak with msr see what he thinks. he will have tried and proven results with almost every combo anyone can post on here

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

I reckon you should just get a VF34.

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

Cost effective: VF34, 550/565cc injectors, Walbro 255.

Not cost effective: Dom1.5 XTR, ID800's, DW300.

All depends on your budget my man.

Defiantly see Michael, Give him plenty of notice.

Alright alright. What about muffler. I want a 3" TBE with a decent muffler.

I am running straight pipes now and I actually like it (with a cat)… But if I go 3" it might be too droney and need a muffler?

Already have the 255 Walbro bro.

Definitely need injectors? I reckon my budget would be 2.5k

Needs to include tune from MSR.

Your 440's will be maxed out at 14.5psi with a VF34, Very dangerous.

565's will give you plenty of room for boost and safety.

As for exhausts, It's up to you mate. If it drones, Change it later.

A tune from MSR is $800

Used Pink Injectors - $280-350

Used VF34 - $750-900

May as well get a 3port BCS for $99 while you are at it.

Cool. That gives me something to work on.

Would you suggest a brand new VF34 or a used one. Brand new ones go for say $1400 where as I have seen them used for around the $800 mark in good condition…

$1400 + $800 = $2200… $300 left for injectors?

New is always good.

If you find a used one in good condition, Go for it.

Turbo swap is easy, Injectors aren't to bad.

Limp it down to MSR (Run wastegate pressure)

Throw the 3 port on in MSR's car park, Happy days.

I'm currently running a 3" xforce from turbo back in my wrx and it sounds and drives like a dream. Best exhaust system that i have ever had.

Front mount 700
TD0520/18g. 700
Injectors. 250
Tune, if its msr 700

I would squeeze a few hundred more for a used exhaust and do it all at once.

Vf34 is just too small to get the 2.5l advantages

I am considering doing the following:

TD05 18g (most likely Kinugawa for $800) - Keep STI Top mount

Pink STI Injectors ($300)

Tune (just got quoted $900 off MSR, but I get KIDO racing ones for $0 and the cost of the dyno, so $120 an hour)

Exhaust I am thinking I get 3" stainless from the dump back. I already have the 3" dump pipe, so would only need the pipe and a 3" cat, as it will be a straight pipe! (Cost ~$300-$400 if im lucky)

Thoughts?

your on the right track now mate.

I would still be saying get a fmic, and ill be yelling it until the day i die :)

Maybe even some aftermarket 850cc injectors so you have headroom.

the 20g is well suited to the 2.5L also
