Hi,

Did the stock car get defected?

If not, that's like saying even sober people get targeted at booze buses.

Cheers,

Nik

Dunno if it got defected but wasn't the cop saying something about not giving up until he found something to defect?

Pretty certain he got done for "darker then legal tints" even thought it was done in 35%.

Kind of like doing someone for DUI who is sober.

:)

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. Seriously cubts,  :fork: right off.

My point is that he was harassed for simply being at the meet with their intent of trying to find defects from nothing.

I'm not sure how it is in QLD, but here in NSW they will sometimes defect modifications on the grounds that it is 'not complying with standard specifications' rather than just being un-roadworthy. But like most people have said, having a modified car you just run that risk of being picked up, whether it's driving to work or at a meet etc..

I do understand the frustration of being defected for minor issues, that don't affect the roadworthy condition of the car, but what can you do? I once had an officer try and tell me that an after market FPR in my engine bay was my boost gauge.. I had an N/A at the time.

under law though, if your car does not meet the Australian Design Regulations (standard specs as you say) it is considered unroadworthy and therefore a defect. so pretty much anytime you are defected its because you arent meeting these specifications or regulations.

So I'm still hell confused readin through this. I'd pursume most us here are car enthusiasts have our cars as a hobby or a practical need in life but in sayin you get done for mods curious what about body kits? What does this leave in terms of car shows and seein that odd weapon that makes you impressed with workmanship?

I, as I’m sure a lot of your guys do too, have a lot of mechanic friends and I bet if you ask ANY of them and they will tell you that the most dangerous cars on the road are ones driven by middle aged soccer mums. Headlights, tail lights and indcators out, brakes totally worn, shocks gone, bald tyres, 20k over service etc etc. Now these are the same “respectable’ cars and owners that I see “hooning” through the three school zones I drive through every morning (often sitting up my arse as I do the posted 40kmph) to drop little johnnie and little suzie off to school. Not only that but double parking in no standing zones.

Can back this up, speaking from experience of working for Jaguar/Range Rover. We used to get the soccer mum's, we'd get their cars and be like "Shit! Needs tyres, brakes, control arm bushes etc etc"

Maybe someone should send something to our Roads Minister to see what the approach in NSW will be and if they are willing to work closer with the modified car community for more co-operation.

A infamous hwy patrol officer down here defected an unregistered track car outside the owners business just cause he wanted to and also defected an 86 for drl's. I witnessed this happen. There are countless stories of this infamous officer. One that stood out was an evo getting defected for its stock FMIC then still having to get rwc to get it cleared which is ridiculous.

There's a couple in Sydney. One wanted to do me for not having a P-plate bracket, even though at the time my P-plates were 100% visible..

You run illegal/unroadworthy mods, you run the risk of getting defected. Its simple.

Its fastidiously maintained but still technically unroadworthy even though all small items. Its the risk we run. Live and deal with it dont complain about it.

Pretty much! I know I'd be done for a few things ... and I live in Campbelltown, I'm amazed I'm still on the road. :sarcastic:

Also, 1100HP and road registered?

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.
