Hey guys.

Just wanted to know the layout and lengh of a standard NA 2.5 gen 3 libs engine number..

As i want to compare it to the WRX`s one..

My engine went to the tip a long time ago so i dont have it anymore..

I obviously don't want your exact numebr....SO feel free to change a few digits or something if need be.

Would be like EJ251XX2YY

or something like that

the new one will be EJ20(K,G,7,5) etc See below

Quoted from Scoobynet.com

MY96 STi 2 - EJ20GDW5PR
(change to Phase 1.5 - NO reset of year field)
MY97 STi 3 - EJ20KDW6PR
MY98 STi 4 - EJ20KDW7PR
(change to Phase 2 - reset of year field)
MY99 STi 5 - EJ207DW1PR
MY00 STi 6 - EJ207DW2PR
(change to New Age Bug Eye, NO reset of year field)
MY01 STi 7 - EJ207DW3CR
MY02 STi 7 - EJ207DW4CR
(change to Blob Eye / twin scroll, NO reset of year field)
MY03 STi 8 - EJ207DW5CR
MY04 STi 8 - EJ207DW6CR
MY05 STi 9 - EJ207DW7CR
(change to Hawk Eye, NO reset of year field)
MY06 STi 10 - EJ207DG8CR
MY07 STi 10 - EJ207DG9LE

The EJ205 should follow the same pattern, yes. But note, that EJ207 can also be applied to WRX-RA engines: so an MY99 WRX-RA engine would be EJ207DW1KD or EJ207DW1KE. Also, there is some oddness because you get EJ205DW1KE in MY99 WRX Wagon, it seems the sedan gets an EJ207 designation, which seems odd.

do you have the recipt for the Engine/halfcut showing the engine number?
just made a call and if you have that, they will check the code matches and thats it - DONE no hassle..
not to say there wont be a follow up at a later stage for some other reason but they just want to check the engine number.. ensure it is the correct one..

if they ask you why different engine..
"smaller engine, for economy reasons" ;)

spoke to someone who has FIRST HAND done this multiple times.. EJ207 into a GX Gen1 Lib - was no hassle

Issue is if the engine was a USA import as some of their blocks didnt have numbers stamped on them.. in some cases.. and this is where you need to have some kind of other proof the engine was in the other car that was imported..

im my case.. i kept photos of the VIN plate from the HalfCut.. also have the receipt from Ichybum.

Yea i ended up getting it off the rego sicker

2.5 na number was A9300**

2.0 T number is        0854**

So really not that different apart for the leading letter, I was told that they "Sometimes have that sometimes not"

I have the Vin plate in my tool box from the half cut..
