Only because it's such a misunderstood thing to the general public, people don't realize that by the time Tony finishes building "his" NBN in 2016, we will still be 10 years behind the US and 15 years behind Japan.

Labor's plan, regardless of how it was or wasn't funded would have taken longer but would have aligned us with roughly what Japan (the technology benchmark) had in the last few years AND WOULD BE EASILY UPGRADABLE with no major infrastructure changes needed.

Good cheap internet is important to Australia.

Seems all to convenient that Rupert Murdoch has his grubby old fingers in the pie.

Us having access to high speed video/news media from overseas would see him pretty much out of business in Australia.

Coincidence? I think not.

I just hope that they do what is good for the people now. They deserve a chance. We just have to sit back and see what becomes of everything. That's enough political talk from me for one day though.

Had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner, and went out to Zanzibar in Newtown for my girlfriend's friend's 30th birthday and just engaged party. I agree that a new internet would be nice, but "of how it was or wasn't funded"

You are working on the assumption that they would magically find money where they couldn't do so already to complete this.

It is the same as heading down to the local bottle shop and wanting a carton of Hop Hog and only having enough for a six pack of VB - it is all well and good to say that you want the Hop Hog but if your budget only allows the VB then how are you going to accomplish this? people are just assuming that this was going to be a real thing...
