@Pete: The way it comes across the cape here is insane. We're usually 40/50km/h winds stronger than Perth!

@richo - only if Dylan and kelly are definitely going to make LC's they might have a plan change, and i dont want to force their movements.

A record wind gust of 146km/h, believed to be the strongest wind recorded in WA in September, hit Cape Leeuwin about 11pm last night.

We would sail using a storm jib and have two reefs in our main in anything over about 40kts of consistent wind. 80kts is forking mental

Category is based on the wind speed measured in kmh.
