Does anyone know if ECUDataScan exists anymore?

I'm having problems with mine at the moment and tried to email Daren using the same email address I was contacting him on early 2012 and it bounced back!

Anyone know why I might be getting these messages?

I’ve tried unplugging the OBDII cable, resetting the car’s ECU and reloading the software onto the SD card however nothing appears to be working. I can’t see any noticeable damage to the cable either.

I also tried to reset the unit using the button on the back however when I pressed it, the button snapped off and fell inside the unit?!

what's the cable look like ?  May be an easy fix.

I think its pretty hard to expect after sales service from a single operator that went belly up for one reason or another (business or personal). That's a risk you take when purchasing from such an outfit.

True. And I was being optimistic.

But he has the gear! It's just sitting in a storage unit somewhere and he can't be stuffed going to get it. I'm willing to pay for it. Without it, my $300 scanner isn't even a helpful door stop!

understandable if he was out of business and out of stock but as Morgan says, he has them sitting in storage and just can't be bothered to get them is a bit average. We spent A LOT ($12,000) of money with him on that group buy so i'd liked to have seen him able to hook you up with some after sales service especially since you gave him MONTHS AND MONTHS to help you out with parts he already has.

ok -- that was a big buy.. but I think you need to consider you don't know what his circumstances currently are.

That being said, it does seem weird he doesn't want to translate what is essentially useless crap in storage into hard cash.

again - what does the cable look like?  Is it something fixable?

Btssm is a great alternative to ecuds. :)

A vagcom cable should work for ecuds, iirc they require some modding to work with subies?

The cable plug part is a serial to USB converter to mini USB so in theory you could hack one up from parts?

I have a broken spare ecuds cable which might just require a new mini USB plug to be soldered to the lead...
