I haven't heard of anyone fitting a STi top mount on a B4. It might be possible but I'm thinking it would be a major pain in the arse and you would definitely need silicone hoses to make it possible. Tim has a process west cooler fitted and he would be the go to man on this I reckon.

I think the benefits (which wouldn't be huge) would be not worth the stress. You would need to modify the splitter, scoop and rubber shroud thing for it to be a worthwhile mod.
But don't let that stop you from researching it.

I just don't think one would fit.....too wide.

I've seen the sti intercooler installed on a b4/GTB on clubsub but can't find it for the life of me.

You should be able to notice bearing play with the car jacked up and wobbling the wheel.

Or you could just keep driving until it lets go lol.

Replace them both for peice of mind.

As for the 02 - 07 STi cooler. It can be done. But it is a major change. Mounts need moving, and you will need some custom gear made up to make it all fit and work as designed. For the costs side of things, you will likely be better off getting an aftermarket larger cooler designed for the B4, unless you do a lot of the mods work yourself. The aftermarket one will bolt up with minimal mods (main mod will be cutting back the air ducting under the bonnet to fit the thicker core).

I have the larger STi cooler on my B4, but thats because the entire engine has been changed to a 2004 STi motor. Mounts etc were all standard, all I had to do was make a custom splitter and air guide to suit the new IC. It still isnt perfect, and by no means looks factory, but it works reasonably well (at least its better than no air guide at all).

If I had to do all the work on fitting it to a stock B4 motor, I would go and buy something else.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

Hyperflow would be the best bolt on intercooler. I think there is a couple of others as well but not too sure who makes them.

I think you will find that it is one of the few BOV's that will fit onto the B4 intercooler. If you have a look at yours compared to a WRX or Foz, you should see how much tighter the B4's space is for a BOV. Even if you do change it, it will most likely sound the same.

Please don't ruin the smoothest and best (IMO) sounding UEL exhaust note to come out of a Subaru with a cannon...

Know not no (when talking about "knowing" something).

It is your car and i am all for personal expression, but i hope you dont do half the stuff you are talking about. It is all cop bait ricer mods and adds nothing to the car's performance or aesthetics.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't have those wheels and scoop now.
