I'm so damn tired.

Worst feeling when you know it's Saturday, so it'll be really busy, and we're short staffed, and I'm still chef - so I can't bail.

I could fall asleep in this chair right now.

BEst of luck, Hambone.

Good morning all.

Very good idea, just keep it professional and only add relevant people to your profile (seniors/management and coworkers only) don't turn it into Facebook and add everyone you know.

The only reason I ask is because I am wanting to get myself into a professional career, for example structural engineering, and thought it would be a good idea to get myself out there to better my chances at obtaining a position. My girlfriend has one as well and she has been able to gain some exposure in the industry she is in. Oh of course! If I am to get a profile, it'd only be for professional usage. I doubt adding my current seniors/management and coworkers would be of benefit seeing as I work for a council in civil construction and road maintenance though... :P

Thanks for your feedback though. If anyone else would like to add their input please feel free to do so. The more the merrier. I will look into creating my own profile this afternoon.

I get about 3-4 "we saw your profile and are interested in you for our company" messages a month through LinkedIn, so it's worth keeping it up to date.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

That's impressive... I'll definitely give it a go then and see where it takes me. Are you able to add to your profile industries you're interested in and stuff or do companies/HR people in general just approach you if they think you're suitable for a position? Would it be wise to add some high rollers from companies you are interested in working for?

You do, but the company I want to work for offer traineeships/cadet drafting positions in it with guaranteed jobs when you graduate if you're good of course. You work for them and they pay for your education/courses, etc. You've gotta start somewhere and the sooner I get there the sooner I will become one. It's the other passion I have apart from joining the police force, AFP, Customs, firefighters, etc.

Because I've done architectural technology at TAFE I was able to apply for the expression of interest for the job. I just have to wait until they come up. I've also been vouched by a senior structural engineer who works there also which definitely helps.

You should man. Anything to help gain exposure can always benefit you if you use it smartly right?

LinkedIn is good no matter how much experience or how qualified you are.

I'm sure people often search for traineeships and shit.

The other good thing about it is you can see who has viewed your profile (names and companies) unless they pay to have their name blocked.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Yeah I have seen my girlfriend's profile. It's pretty cool to have that feature. You know exactly how much activity your profile is getting. Thanks for all the info ams.

Nice work Shaz.

Totally just saw a chick grab her boobs as she was running.
Haha, her tits weren't even that big!

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.
