So thanks to my old man I've got some new hose clamps coming tonight that will do the job nicely. Cheap fixes are the best

I've also been toying around with the idea of moving into an MY11 wrx in the later end of this year, price on them is starting to look right and after driving a few I really like the power they provide and how they handle, so it's an idea I'm considering heavily at the moment

i think it would be a massive mistake to sell this to buy a wrx. All i can say is if you do, do it once do it right. Buy an STI even if it has to be and 08-09STI. ive had a wrx and my biggest regret was not buying an sti in the first place and i know other WRX owners who will say the same. You spend money modding the wrx to improve it to a standard of STI or better when for that extra money you have sunk into the WRX you could have just bought an sti and already been ahead of the game if you get where im coming from e.g. brembo, 6speed etc. I know where talking cars but your minimising your financial loss come sale because you havnt sunk all this extra money making a car something it isnt.

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

Ideally I would be jumping into an sti, but the cost of buying the car and insuring is too much for me to justify it
That and also I believe the engines in the 08-09 weren't the greatest either.
The wrx still has to be a daily so I won't be chasing massive mods or power, if I get one it will be getting coilovers new wheels and then a turbo back exhaust intake and tune package from msr which should bring the power to over 200 atw which is plenty for a daily
I'm doing too many kms a week at the moment and it's going to get worse so got to think reasonably about what I get

It was just the MY08 WRXs that were crap.

MY09s had the VF52 and a bunch of other upgrades.

However, the STi is different altogether. MY08 STis are fine.

Ah ok I was probably mistaken then

Unfortunately the purchase price of them still rules it out for me

MY08 WRX is garbage.

MY09-10 WRX is crap because they aren't widebody :P

Still good bang for buck though! VF52's are wicked.

MY08-MY10 STI pistons are garbage.

I would have a MY11 WRX with the mods above over the others. They are also coming out of warranty now, So you can play!

Widebody WRX for sure!

My mates missus just picked one up. Lucky bitch, haha.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

yeah would definately be the wide body, i love the look of them. and after driving a mate of mines one a few times I'm really impressed with them. even as a stock car, the power and handling is pretty impressive.

small update.

spent saturday doing a mini tech day with Cam Lachy and Ryan. thanks to all the boys for a fun day and all their help.

the foz got put onto Penrite HPR10 last oil change, however it hasnt been a fan of it so we did an oil change and switched back to delvac, and the car is loving it again.

also replaced the front right guard liner that was damaged when i had a minor run in with a macdonalds car park pot hole. moral of the story - maccas breakfast is bad for you and your car.

wont be doing much to the car for the next few months, all my savings are going towards a overseas trip in july.

when i get back will be giving the car a bit of TLC and potentially throw on a set of rotas.

i would love to chase more power, but i think 200kwatw is plenty enough for a daily street car. im still toying with the idea of getting into a wrx at the end of this year, but decision will be based on where im at with work.
