Well good evening everyone, how are you all going?

 

Some may be wondering why I did the dirty in not attending the Christmas meet and why I've sorta been inactive on the forum for the past day. Well, here is the best description I can come up with.

 

Yesterday I was the victim of a complete dickhead who thought it'd be a great idea to reverse into my car at a set of lights in order to give someone enough clearance to get through as they wanted to turn right out of a car park driveway. He reversed slightly, and was creeping closer and closer ever so slowly. I beeped my horn when I thought he was getting a little too close for comfort. He continued coming, so much so that he hit my car. After getting out and giving him a mouthful of why the hell he didn't stop when I beeped, we checked out what the damage was. There was honestly nothing to be extremely worried about, however upon closer inspection I did notice that his tow bar had taken a total of about a 50c coin sized area of paint off my bumper, as well as his spare wheel scraping a bit of my bonnet. The man said it would be best to move into another street in order to avoid what was already a major traffic jam in the area. I agreed and we moved a street or two away. Just to be safe I did take a photo of his car in case he did the runner.

 

I won't get into too much detail of what occurred when we stopped, but lets just say that he was extremely defensive and denied giving me his license, which I explained to him was against the law. I said if he wasn't gonna give me his license details, I would call the police. He told me to "Go for it!" so I did. I dialled 000, was transferred to the local police station and spoke to the constable whom attended the call. I explained the situation and he asked for the man to be put on the phone, who was reminded that if he didn't give me his details, it was against the law and he'd receive an infringement. The man agreed to give me his details but denied having any contact number (it is NOT against the law to not give your contact number, which the constable explained to me after speaking to the man). The man continued being difficult and tried offering me money to get it fixed. I denied the money and explained to him that I would go through insurance.

 

He told me he had insurance but the car was not his. Irrelevant I know, but after having dealt with this idiot, I though it would be best for me to cover my ass and get things done properly. I managed to get his complete details but due to what was going on it didn't run through my mind for me to provide him with my own.

 

After getting off the phone with police assist I was advised to go to the station whom attended the call in order to give my details so that I would get my ass covered and for things not to look like I was the run that did the runner. I made a statement/police report and called my insurance to make a claim. The man that reversed into me was dodgy as, didn't provide me with his details until asked by the constable and tried to tell me that police don't care about this sorta stuff unless it is over $1,000 damage.

 

What a complete fool. The police station and my insurance company told me everything I did was perfect and I have done everything necessary to cover my ass for the worst case scenario. The 000 call, where he ADMITTED to the incident to the constable whom answered the phone, would be used as evidence if need be and my car is due to be inspected on the 3rd of January at a smash repairer approved by my insurance company.

 

People like this don't deserve to get away with things. Apologies for the rant but I thought I needed to get it off my chest and wanted to show everyone why insurance is such a necessity. NO ONE should ever be driving without it. This guy is a complete clown and he's gonna get what's coming to him. I hate liars.
