Ha, you're not wrong Jase. I don't have time for liars or complete oxygen thieves. I told my dad the story and he told me to go to the police station and make the insurance claim STRAIGHT away. No mucking around, which is the main reason why I wasn't able to attend the Xmas meet.

I remember when someone ran into the back of my car and wanted me to pay for the damages to his car. Same rules applied, we (I had a work mate with me) called the cops. 

 

Exactly right man. I'm just happy that the police or my insurance company didn't fork me around at all. I was very surprised to be honest. It's the first time I've ever had to be in this situation. I know it won't be my last, but in an ideal world I'd love for it to never happen to me again.

Only thing I would have done different Gaz would be to try and get a witness on board.

A bloke at work had this old bloke with more money then common sense reverse out into the side of his car. The bloke got out and said, 'oh that's what that beeping noise was' idiot ignores his reversing sensor and didn't look either.

Anyway bloke wouldn't pay for it and said it's our word against mine, you pay to get yours fixed and I'll pay for mine.

Work mate took him to court and in the eyes of the law it was his word against the old blokes and they both had to pay for their own repairs.

Shit go hey, but more to the point try and get witnesses.

And take photos of everything. Even their license

My witness was the police officer that spoke to him over the phone, that had the guy tell him he DID crash into me and it was his fault. That's enough evidence, surely? It's all recorded and I was told when I went to the police station in person that if he does kick up a stink the 000 call recording can be used for evidence.

 

That's one thing that crossed my mind only after he drove off. I did get his full name, address, date of birth, license number and card number written down so it was pretty much everything aside from his photo anyway.

Oh there wasn't at all mate, I'll be the first to admit to it. I told the bloke, the police officer and the person from my insurance company that I wasn't in it to scam something that he didn't do out of him of course. But at the end of the day he will now end up paying for the front bar to be redone, which is good for me and should teach him a lesson next time for being a dropkick.
