But I do worry about the big end knock thing... car has gone into limp mode twice since I've had it, on stupidly hot days... so will have to be extra careful with it in summer I guess... Need to get this oil leak looked at...

Zac, There are plenty of B4's out there that are still on the original motor but, as you know, big ends are a known issue. As you are only experiencing an oil leak, chances are the big ends are still OK....for now.
With that sort of Kms on it, the issues associated with that model, the age of the car and it's current market value I would be prepared to bail out of it at a moments notice.
