ECU is different on auto/manual (well it was for my 98 RX wagon anyway)

I just swapped in the box and ran with the auto ECU (when it was still N/A)

Also, when I swapped harnesses for my conversion I removed everything, just made it so much easier to run and for access. You don't want to half arse it and end up with a rattle.

Adam's wagon?

How did it run on the auto ecu?

I'm seriously considering using the original loom, and see how it goes.

Yea. Ran fine, when the clutch was in on idle the revs would drop a bit but other than that there was no issues.

Does this engine loom disconnect somewhere?, seems to be attached in every place to the whole loom

thanks mate I think that's the path I'll be taking.

There are fine differences between the 2 ECUs, mainly to do with idle revs and power outputs. Running it on the Auto ECU you shouldnt run into major dramas. The main difference was the addition of a TCU and associated loom for the autos.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

I bought a manual ECU for mine, the plug configuration wasn't the same so I couldn't use it anyway (with auto loom).

Gotcha, will just be splicing the g/box wiring into the auto connectors and see how that goes.

ok mate, i think you really need to dig through the FSM's a bit more and look at the wiring of Plugs B137 B135 and B136

these are the plugs for 3pin ECU which you have in that photo..

can you clarify what you are doing exactly?

taking the manual box from a 2.5 RX ?

and putting it into a 2.2 GX ?

Attached File  Wiring Diagram.pdf   5.24MB   10 downloads

Page 60 should be your 2 plug ECU from your GX auto in the first PDF

Cross reference it with the info in the second PDF..

Attached File  conversion19.jpg   134.55KB   2 downloads
ignoring the turbo stuff..

im pretty sure all the Auto stuff is self contained in the TCU (Transmission control unit) the only reason anything connects to the ECU plugs is due to needing VSS input and Revs.

so most of that stuff probably just is a feed from the ECU but not actually vital once the TCU is removed...

i'll try dig up my sheets i made when i did my conversion as i mapped each plug in the 3plugs for the NA 2.5.. but really.. i think i only added the turbo stuff and some common grounds.. everything else i think stayed the same.

just read through that first PDF a bit more and trace each wire from the ECU and see where it needs to go...

this should be alot simpler than you think.

sounds like your just going in thinking its going to be harder than it should be.

Hi guys

I can't seem to find the indentifier pin, where my pinout diagram says it's suppose to be there is no pin on the connector and I can't find any power from the ecu. It says it's the middle connector and the wire on the 3rd wire on the bottom left

Thanks
Robert
