That 80 series is forking cool. Looks tidy as. That would be cool to drive all over Australia, very envious.

So I had a shoulder reconstruction 6 weeks ago on Wednesday and i've been sporting a sling 24/7. I went for my first painful drive last night to check out the tonka truck (Pg.8) here are some pics, the pain was worth it i've been having boost withdrawls

Mad 4WD. You need one of those roof tents, best option.

I'd like to do a similar thing, mates did the Syd to Darwin a few yrs back, they loved it, I opted to fly it :P.

Belated update after 6 months on the road...

Telegraph track in the 80:

but the best thing is coming home to this:

1. engine came out and replaced the cosworth cams as the AVCS triggers are out meaning could not tune with AVCS - swapped for Kelford.
2. thicker head gasket, new valve guides and larger headstuds were fitted.
3. Twist mount Borg-Warner 7064 EFR with FMIC.
4. Match ported the stock headers.
5. ID1300s.
6. Radium rails and surge tank.
7. Full flex fuel tune
8. Close ratio JDM six speed.
9. DCCDpro.
10. Plated R180 from spec-c STi.
11. New brembos/rotors and pads.
12. Ganador CF LED super mirrors.
13. DAMD flat bottom wheel.
14. Spec-c quick rack.
15. Mishimoto radiator and oil cooler/sandwich plate.

Hey Bro. She's driving like a dream. I need to cut up the front bar to get more air to the FMIC though as can't push boost over 19psi without dangerous IATs so that needs to be sorted soon.

The exedy HD clutch is still extremely noisey AF. Does my head in.

What sort of iat's are you seeing ?

Also is the clutch just a standard hd unit ?
Not a button or anything

Yes it's just a standard HD. From what I understand there are two versions of the HD; One is noisey in some instances and one is not. The difference is in the number of fingers on the pressure plate or something like that... IIRC.

I have not spoken to the tuner about the exact numbers that were logged but i trust his advice. We will have another go after the front bar is sorted. Currently only about 5-10% of the core gets direct airflow and it's a real tight fit against oil cooler, aircon and radiator so it's tight in there at the moment. Without cutting a stupid amount of bar i should be able to open it up to about 70-80% of the core so that's a win.
