Boring Beer is amazing.

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. Seriously cubts,  :fork: right off.

Zac are you sure that it's pinging. It could also be a big end on its way out. Mine didn't completely shit itself but it started knocking about 3k revs

Yuck, don't tell me that. Lol!

It sounds like a rattle can a little, so I'm thinking that is the pinging noise, happens more often on very hot days, but now is happening even when it is only 25 degrees outside, under load

Seriously dude, forget about the bike for now and get that shit sorted, it will only be a matter of time until you are up for a new engine.

Truth

But bike fun :(

Guess it is time to be logical though and sort the car out.

Would a new engine be a bad thing?

I mean I have 217km on this engine now

How much would it cost me to have another engine dropped into the car?

Would a single conversion be possible at the same time?

Zac, yes a single conversion could be done for a cost... you could probably get a half cut for a B4 relatively cheapish (a few K I guess) but still, if you use the car for family either sell it and get something that doesn't require a lot of fixing or spend your cash and fix it :)

Thanks Yosh, logical.

Sigh.

Just when I found a few bikes I like.

Think the B4 hates me.

If I could sell it and get something else quickly, I would. But selling a B4 is a nightmare it seems.

I'll have to chat with Pulse and Tunehouse to see how much a tune with them will cost

Sell the B4 Sack.

Or it is going to cost you a fuckload to fix. Even if you sell it cheaper, you will still be better off then having to fix a big end.

Just a thought Zaccy! depends on how much you rely on the car is all... if you don't need it then by all means get a bike, but if you require it for the family then I think it is a no brainer.

Thanks Shaz, yeah doesn't sound like fixing a big end is going to be good for the wallet.

I guess I could sell it for cheap.

Funny thing is I just paid for 1 year rego for it today.

That might help it sell though, but dents and high kms will be a problem

Paid $7k for it last year, maybe get $5k for it now if I'm lucky :(

Yeah man, need the car 100% for family, so yeah, no brainer.

Thanks for talking some sense into me guys.

Funny that the SubyClub is telling me to sell my B4, but it makes sense.

Good guys here :)

3k-ish for import long motor swap.

8k-ish for rebuild with 207 short motor

10k-ish for rebuild with convert to single.

Either way it's going to cost you. I'm keeping mine forever so I didn't mind spending money investing foolishly in it.

Yeah, I don't think what he has sounds like a big end, you would be pretty sure when a big end goes because it is usually pretty loud and nasty sounding and it keeps getting worse until it can sound like a pretty loud metallic knocking.

I would say that what Zac has is pinging issues but sounds as though there is some shit going wrong if it is doing so frequently.

Thanks for the numbers Tim.

Looks like it isn't economical to fix, and I never planned to keep mine forever, so should sell it.

Tune might fix the pinging, actually, pretty sure it will, but yeah, dumping money into this car isn't the best thing to do, since it isn't going to increase in value and I can't afford to have it off the road for a long time if it needs to be repaired, so should look into selling it soon.

And just like that, the whole bike thing is back to being on hold.

Anyway, what car should I get next?

I think I have just about enough money to buy another car before selling the B4

Brakes then mine is for sale. The infinite loop is readying the car for sale, then remembering why you bought it in the first place. It's like reliving a first date with a life love.
