They usually get hammered with loads of ping/detonation.

I know hey! they LOOKED fine when I replaced them with the ACL's. still replaced them for good measure.

I'm not totally convinced it will fix his woes, ambient temperature being lower might well help it a lot but I suspect that something other than the TMIC will be playing a role in the pinging when it is hot.

If it helps me get through for a while, the TMIC, I'll be happy. Wonder if IchiBen can diagnose the issue if he hears it.

Tuner might still be the way to go Josh, more power, better fuel, less pinging and VOD would all be nice

Does it sound strange if I say that while driving, if the car does ping, it doesn't sound like it is coming from the engine? It sounds like it is coming from my right side, near the driver door somewhere. Think it could just be echo or sound bouncing off stuff? Maybe I'm just hearing things and the pinging is in my head :wacko:

We can set it on fire to bring the ambient temp up and try and get it to ping.

I have the ECV on my mind lately so I'm going to go with that. loose flappy?

Last time I played with the ECV I was more keen on a beer than a test drive, so was adjusting it a bit then left it for a couple of days, drove the car and heard this forking rattling sound... freaked the fark out until I remembered what I had done haha.
