VIN won't tell a dealer what it is - we only get the Jap system and what they call them, not what Inchape/Subaru Australia want to sell them as. Headlights make it look like an MY07 (chrome inside, 06 are grey) but tailights are MY06 (grey). Interior is throwing me, dual range, auto climate, seats are 2.0i (2.0R had WRX one piece). I'll say some sort of 2.0i run out model.

2002 Outback - it's gone...

It's actually a 2005 MY06 build. So one of the very first ones built. Doubt that means it's a 'run out'?

I've heard about that headlight thing before grey/chrome = MY06/MY07 respectively.

Most of the CarSales ads must be incorrectly edited... They're all mixed up!

Looks like a bitsa/runout/introduction model. Slapped together with whatever is left at the factory.

If this was the timing cover, would it have variable valve timing or not?

It's SOHC - so not variable.

Just the asthmatic EJ201.
