I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Morning all.
Would own the shit out of that Camaro
Dilemma...
A mate fixed the RB, took a bit long IMO as he has cubtbags working for him, and now I have discovered that all the trim was poorly re assembled so I ended up fixing it myself last night.
We did a bit of a labour swap as his race ute needed work, so I got the front part of the car painted (not insurance work) for very little cash outlay.
I am of two minds if I should ring and let him know. He is a top bloke and does quality work but the cubts that work for him are selfish forks. They leave early or come late with no reason and then ask to use the shop for their own/mates cars.
This is what I found:
- Wheel has been dragged on its face and is scufffed
- Seat belt refitted twisted
- missing trim clips (I found some under the seat)
- grinding waste under the trim floor (this will rust)
- broken trim mounts with the screws jammed in
- 'de nib' spot on the front bar has not been cut back
- missing rear bar mounting clips missing
Do I ring him and tell him?
I get so pissed off with the auto industry sometimes.
Where has all the pride in the work gone??
\rant
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Best thing you can do is give the feedback, he has a business to run and if cubts are doing the dodgy and he doesn't know about it then it is his reputation on the line.

That's one forking tough Car right there.
I think you should, Jase. But i don't know how you'd go about it.
Might require some tact.
I think I would like to know things like that, if it was my business.

But it will be all in the delivery. Maybe out for a beer???

Just ask yourself if he'd be likely to inform you of substandard work done on the race ute.
But it will be all in the delivery. Maybe out for a beer???
He's not telling him he slept with his wife, he's telling him his workers slacked off. Keep it business and it will be handled as business.

Is he likely to get defensive with a mate complaining about his business?

I would be far more offended if I found out you guys were talking to each other about my vodka being crap instead of telling me, yes.

The reality is it's not like you can say "that job is only worth such and such, so you'll be paid $6/hr less for working on it"
They get paid the same, what someone is spending/not spending should be inconsequential to the end product/service.

@jase
Let him know. I'm in a similar boat, we use a mate who has gone out on his own and does all the farm mechanicals/fabrications stuff for us. He is a skilled mechanic, but since the beginning of this yr he has grown substantially and employs 3 more blokes, who sound very similar to the blokes who work for your mate. They just don't do the attention to detail, take that little bit longer to do the right thing by us.
We let him know, when they fork up.
Feed out wagon needed repairs with a mudguard.
*welds look good, but no galv paint.
*3 out of 4 bolts were used (4th bolt missing?)
*and it was originally bent from an accident.. Well it still is.

Exactly Nik. The chili vodka I got from you is crap though, because the cubt is empty. Every time I try to pour a drink from it nothing comes out. You should look into that.
Yeah that big hole at the top of each bottle gets lots of complaints...!

Just caught up, Yep Jase, tell him for sure. It sounds like he wouldn't ccept this quality of work himself and I bet he'll appreciate you letting him know. As Nik said, nothing worse finding out third hand that people are bagging you work/product but not giving you a chance to rectify as you aren't made aware it's a problem.
Tuf Camaro Nik.
Boss, never is it an acceptable time for International Roast.
At Bump, I have the whole front and rear sunroof's I'm about to bin...will work out a way to get the motor out for you
