Hey guys so ive been snooping around for a couple of weeks now and thought i might as well make my own thread as i plan on doing a bit to my newly purchased Legacy. Their is a NZ forum but its very unorganized and this one is a lot better and people are a lot more helpful. I actually live and work in Australia and drive a E3 Maloo 2013. A bit different from a subaru but i have always loved my subarus and i like to have a car in NZ for snowboarding trips and visiting family etc and this will keep me busy for a while

Anyway....

I have gone from a 1996 RSB Legacy 2.0 TT

to a 2000 B4 Legacy 2.0 TT

to a 2004 Legacy non turbo 2.0 (hated it so flicked it off to my sister)

And now i have purchased another Gen 3 B4 TT

Everyone of the first 3 cars already came with the basics and i never modified them what so ever so this will be my first one

I have always regretted selling my 2000 B4 so that is why i purchased another one.

I paid $3400 for it with 172,000 on the clock. Ideal amount of kms as it isnt my daily and only gets driven a couple of weeks every 3 or so months. The cars in pretty rough shape and needs a lot of love. It was completely stock when i purchased it. Just had a boost gauge. As its not my daily im not going to go all out. Will just go for the cheaper options over the more expensive brands

Mods i have in mind for starters to get it up to scratch

GFB response BOV

Blacked out cluster

Black Vinyl and cloth seats

Door cards

Advanti ECO Motion Wheels Gunmetal 17"

4pot WRX front brakes (Painted Yellow)

Diff back muffler for suby rumbleness

BC gold coilovers (Must have CERT in NZ)

Interior lighting to match cluster

Door speakers

RFRB Grille

STI Genome Strut Brace

Boost Gauge

Zero Sports intake pipe

Window Tints all round

Front and Rear swaybars

Single Turbo conversion TD06

Repairs

Paint restoration (cut and polish, ScratchX, Claybar and wax)

Replace seats as their ripped

Stuts knocks going up driveways

Front Left headlight also restore both of them

Alarm Just need to figure out how to make it lock

Bald Tyres

Starter motor (car makes a very weird sound when starting)

Battery

Heater issues

Power windows no longer work

Dents everywhere

Respray front and rear bars

Replace everyone Bushing

More will come to mind and some will change.

here are some photos. They are probably the ugliest wheels i have ever seen so i have already changed them. I will get some more photos over the next couple of days

As the car sits on this day

Today i done the cluster swap. I followed a digram from http://sl-i.net/FORU...316fb51b0139077

I went from non BFM A-C JDM to JDM Type D BFM

I just un plugged every single pin and plugged them back in accordingly to the Type D diagram. I had about 4 plugs left at the end but they were all unrelated to my Legacy.

A few photos of before and after and during

The only downside is that the RPM is out because the cluster was out of a 2002 RS30 V6 Legacy, the odometer not being the same and my right indicator bulb must be blown. Indicator still works fine and can still here the ticking. Also sections of the orange rings arnt lit up. They are quite touchy and come and go. Same with fuel gauge ring

I ended up getting Advantic evo motion 17". I havent actually got a photo yet but will upload one tomorrow. They were $1270 with tyres, shipped and balanced so i was pretty happy with that

Yeah i didnt actually realize until i picked it up. Im going to try and chase a TT one up with 180,000+ kms so when my car reaches it i can swap it over

Today i went and picked up my seats i purchased a couple of weeks back. I dont like the blue and black leather interior/door cards and they were in a pretty terrible state anyway so i got the black vinyl and clothe ones. They are currently sitting in the lounge drying out as i gave them a good wash. Drivers seat has a tear so will get that stitched up in the future

Heres a photo of the car with no seats. The floor was absolutely descusting with crumps, dog hair and other crap so i gave it a nice long vacuum and almost a full can of carpet cleaner =)

Every secondhand car I buy I rip the seats and centre console out of and do the same no matter how clean it is.  Found $8 last time. :D

Your replacement seats arent vinyl, theyre leather. ;)

This is a good idea and also to make sure you are is not carrying unwanted items cause I found and then destroyed an item underneath the gear surround plastics which someone had hidden and forgotten all about it!
