Gaining travel on lowered outback, upper arm Q's

21 July 2014 - 10:08 PM

Since putting the GT-B Struts (with standard GT-B springs) in my Outback, I've had very little travel in the rear end before the bump stop.

This picture shows how much travel I've got from full droop (this is hanging on a 2-post hoist).

The bump stop looks fairly conservatively sized so I'm guessing the Outback ones are no larger than the liberty ones. What is the way to get these things to travel in the rear end? Do people remove/cut-down the bump stop? Are there a few different upper arms profiles and the Liberty ones 'bend' more? I've seen that some Gen3's come with alloy upper arms in the rear - is that what I should be seeking?

Cheers

Remote failure & Rubber key case falling apart Gen3 Liberty

01 April 2014 - 01:31 PM

Just bought this Outback and the key with the FOB & Buttons in it is falling apart and held together with sticky tape. The remote function doesn't function anyway but I was wondering if firstly I could just get a new case for it that was a little more ergonomic - even just some cheap eBay thing that someone has actually used successfully?

Secondly... can I simply buy another battery for this thing with the hope of getting the remote function to work again?

Heath's GEN3 Outback

Hi Guys,

After a year working where I've been with a Barina company car, that boss finally offered me a car allowance that I've been hoping for. The restrictions were that it needed to be late model, with aircon, four comfortable seats etc... all the things I'm not normally into!

Anyway, I've always thought Subarus were a less sterile drive than most new cars, I like the styling of the Gen3 Liberties and I agree with the drive layout. When I was a kid and the GEN3 Outbacks came out, I always thought the interior design was pretty plush with the leather and twin sunroofs (not available on the Lib's?) so I looked at a couple for sale and ended up buying one from a dealer on Saturday. 2.5L, 5spd w/ low range, grey leather. Seems completely stock, a few marks in the paint and 230,000km on the clock which is a little more than I'd opted for. We struck a deal with 6 months of rego and a RWC provided I supplied some tyres as the ones on it are shagged.

I don't pick it up for a week or so, but I'm pretty excited to rip in and do a few things. Main thing on the cards is to bring it down a few inches so it sits a bit lower than a standard Liberty, and probably make the exhaust audible. But yeah just mild things
