Yeh not a bad deal at all. Its hard to find one with the leather and the sunroofs + dual range. Not to mention the low kms...I can't get over how much higher the mileage is on average with Outbacks!Bah! They are hard to see.
Id offer maybe $11k to start it off factoring in the 100k service. Still a good deal
Check out this Outback H6 Luxury advertised at a rich $19K! And just to make things positively laughable, they quote "Haggle Free Fixed Price".......

Car dealers are up there with junkies, vermin, scum, drug dealers, Adolf Hitler and Justin Bieber.
Car dealers are absolute sharks, and are the biggest tightarses.
Bigger tightarses than *insert nationality of choice here*
Get used to it.
Fix your own car. Less headaches that way.

I can always do that later Alex.Shiv - How do you expect car dealers to make money? Sunshine and lollipops?
Just because it has a new pump, doesn't mean the rack hasn't shat itself.
Get it looked at by a power steering specialist. Or a real mechanic. Not the dealer.
But for now, I've got a statutory warranty so I'm going to use it. So far I've claimed a lot on warranty and still pushing them to fix a few other items just for screwing me around. Much prefer the dealer pay for power steering components than me. Its cost me a headache and several days catching the bus. But I think in the end, it'll all be worth it.
Oh and I got myself a nice new head unit just waiting to go in

Sheesh.
Are you serious?
Your still trusting them to "fix" faults on your car?
I'll let you in on an industry secret (Yeah, I've been inside of it... long story)
They don't fix JACK SHIT.
They just hide the symptoms.
As Jase has already mentioned, they fix things as cheaply as possible.
Don't be lulled into the false sense of security that they're repairing your car. They're not.
That warranty isn't worth toilet paper.
You get what you pay for. If you want a quality repair, don't expect the dealer to do it for you for free.

Near enough is good enough mate. I'm not expecting the slimy crook to order in a new part from Subaru worth $600. Just anything to stop the damn thing from seizing up under load. I already told him to do it once and to do it properly or else I'll be back in 2-months before the warranty ends.Sheesh.

Its a Kenwood with a full 7" touch screen. All the bells and whistles minus the NAV. Should be sweet!
What HU you end up getting?
Mines having to wait until 'AW' now...along with everything else

Cheap skates they are. My dealer tried to convince me he sold the car to me cheaper than he purchased it
Moron.
Jase - have you or anyone else heard of Subaru's being prone to having air-locks develop in the power steering pump? I honestly don't know because I'm not a mechanic but thats what the monkey with a spanner (that is; my dealer) is trying to convince me. It just seems odd that on a car with 110,xxx kms, the power steering is seizing up like that. Especially when they said it had a "new" power steering pump put in.
Shiv,
Forgive me if you already know this...
The engine driven pump takes fluid from a reservoir (either remotely via a hose or mounted directly on the pump)pressurises it and sends it via a high pressure line to the rack.
From there the rotary control valve at the top of the pinion (where the steering shaft bolts to)sends it either to the left or right side of the piston (during turns) or directly back to the reservoir (straight ahead).
This means that the fluid is constantly being circulated aruond the system when the engine is running. Any air would be pushed back to the pump. The pump then ingests this air and begins to make groaning sounds.
If the system is bled then left to rest, the air goes to the top of the reservoir and when restarted, the pump draws in fluid only and all is good.
'Air locks' is not a term normally used with power steering. Aeration is normmaly the term ar air is not 'locked' but rather 'mixed' with the fluid.
For the system to become aerated, the system would have to have been opened, fluid level too low or, in some cases, the wheels turned when off the ground with the engine off.
If yours is making a groaning sound when turning and the fliud is at the correct level, I would suspect a faulty flow control valve or pressure relief valve.
The pressure relief valve is in the pump and possibly the flow control valve also (sometimes these are in the high pressure line)so I'm thinking dodgey pump.
If the pump is 'new' then it should be under warranty from the rebuilder or supplier and the yard should replace it without question.
Tell them that you are happy to take it to a steering specialist and have them sent the bill!
Maybe they are dragging their heels so you wont ever go back.
ROFL to the subaru sticky power mirrors.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
