I'm not saying that it will - just that there is the risk. As rare as the risk may be I just don't do it without appropriate anti-blow-my-shit-up equipment :D>

OK, so I found the energy to walk downstairs

Here goes:
1) connect + cable to discharged battery
2) connect + to charged battery
3) connect - cable to charged battery
4) connect other end of neg - cable to a strut top (one of the 3) bolt on the discharged car
5) start charged car, run at moderate revs then start donor car
6) disconnect in exact reverse order

That's for 3.0 and turbo, 2.0 and 2.5 is same but the neg cable goes on the engine lifting bracket.

Walts - I would be really careful jump starting other cars using yours or being jump started unless you have a surge protector in the jumper leads - ECU's can be fried by the surging during a jump start.

+1

Go buy a set. Projecta are good.

Interestingly it doesn't say anything bout being able to damage the ECU, just says it "can be dangerous if done incorrectly". All the precautions are physical (battery exploding, running eng is dangerous etc).

Fixed it a bit

Bolt on engine is better in case of an earth fault

You should let both cars run for a few moments so the flat cars alternator charge circuit can kick in

Does it matter if you are the Jump-Starter or Jump-Startee?

Are you sure bout that for the turbo eng? not saying your wrong (your right too often  ) but it came out of the handbook and that's the only difference between the 2 ways. I would of thought the earth cable bolt on the strut tower would've been the best but just wrote what was in front of me.

I was told it needs to be on the engine as well.

Wasn't challenging, just after clarification as it seems strange to me that they'd specify a different way for the different engines if it wasn't necessary.
