Hey,

Another scorcher in Sydney <_< Hows everyones weekend going??

Went to my third 21st party this week. Was a theme party this time. I went dressed as an Indian King (a Maharajah), haha. Looked pretty awesome :D Just a bit weird seeing an Indian King with a Heiniken in one hand and a beef sausage in the other (the cow is a sacred animal in India) :P

Haha nice Shiv.
Pics are a must!

My weekend has been not a weekend.
Wedding prep non-stop. Had some family help so things are moving well.
Bloody hot though. 32 deg at 10:30 while I was driving this morning!

I didn't take any pics but no doubt they'll show up on FB sometime soon :)

I'm surprised you have time to breath Morgs. Keep at it mate, it'll all be worth it!

So any signs of a "bridezilla" as yet? Keeping her calm?

And yeah, this weather shits me...tossing and turning in bed FTL :negative:

"A Chinese vase discovered during a routine clear-out of a bungalow in northwest London has sold at auction for a record £51m, leaving the sellers flabbergasted.

In scenes reminiscent of the famous Only Fools And Horses episode that finally made Del Boy Trotter a millionaire, the price of the vase kept rising... and rising.
And the mother-and-son owners who had inherited the piece had no idea of its value. The 18th century work of art, described as "a piece of exquisite beauty", was eventually snapped up by an anonymous, private collector from China.

Bainbridges Auctioneers in Ruislip, northwest London, had estimated the Qianlong-dynasty porcelain vase would fetch between £800,000 and £1.2m.
But the bidding attracted many Chinese buyers keen to get their hands on a piece of their imperial past, and the cost went sky high.
The staggering price it fetched surpassed the expectations of the auctioneer and the owners.

The owners of the vase had no idea what they had, according to the auctioneers Helen Porter, of Bainbridges, said: "They had no idea what they had. They were hopeful but they didn't dare believe until the hammer went down." The 16-inch-high masterpiece is believed to have fetched the highest price for any Chinese artwork sold at auction.
Bainbridges described it as one of the most important Chinese vases to go on sale this century. A posting on the auctioneer's blog said: "It is a piece of exquisite beauty and a supreme example of the skill of the ceramicist and decorator.

"How it reached Ruislip is something we shall never know, and that it is in such fine condition is amazing."

To give that some kind of perspective, for that amount of money you could buy this;

Shit like that makes me sick. Who has £51m to spend on a glorified bucket.
Or better question, what do they do and how do I do it.

Someone that has $90M to spend on antique ceramics probably banks that in a couple of days. In one way we could say that the preservation of cultural heritage is something that should be admired, and if someone can afford to keep these artifacts in pristine condition and in a period collection, we might all win.

If you read the article though it sounds like the auction was a gigantic pissing contest.

Was just talking to Mum, they went to a 2-hat restaurant up the coast last night with another couple. After they'd had enough wine they asked for water, waitress asked if they'd like "sparkling or still" asked for still thinking it would be free. 2 glasses each (8 total) .... $56. For fucking water!!

I'd've pissed it back into a cup and asked for a refund!!

Licensed restaurants MUST BY LAW provide FREE water to patrons upon request. FREE water must be readily available and easily obtained by patrons.

You can charge for sparkling, you can charge for still, but you cannot run a licensed premises without having FREE FUCKING WATER. It's against the law.

That is a joke and unfortunately it probably soured the (guessing here?) awesome food that was on the cook?

$7 for a glass of water is disgusting.
